In Valkyria Chronicles, once you got done shooting at an enemy and you can go ahead and move your character again, everyone in range will quite literally immediately start shooting at you again. Sure that's realistic but it really just leaves you smashing the End Turn button just so they don't get a cheap shot in. It'd be one thing if there was a like 2 second pause but that shit is immediate. It's not exactly what I'd call a major flaw or game breaking, just something that could've been remedied.

weapon durability could have been handled better in BOTW I think. I'm not opposed to the concept but it often felt like weapons did not last nearly as long as they should.

I agree with Valkyria Chronicles, that was annoying.

In Smackdown vs Raw 2008, your character could get injured in 24/7 Mode and perform worse in game. But unless youre playing as a general manager, you have no way to rest your character because you have to do a different activity every day.

putting a "timer" in Max Payne 3.

like, if you're trying to save someone, and you cleared a room of enemies, it ends in a game over if you spend too much time going over everything for gold parts/evidence

The general issue with modern games is that the realistic physics make it seem that an average main character has poor agility. Niko Bellic simply doesn't move as fast as the previous GTA protagonists.

also with VC, there was literally no reason not to aim the target reticule exactly at the opponent's head every time since headshots always were more net damage than bodyshots

I hate when any media does this. Like a sequel comes out and theres no respect at all for the characters from the first one.

Another World and Heart of the Alien come to mind. In the first game you struggle to survive, going against all odds to escape. Then in the sequel its like lol the hero died.

Yellow Orbs in Devil May Cry.

I wouldn't necessarily call it otherwise great, but it was at least decent, if not for those damn Yellow Orbs that they used to justify making you restart the whole level when the boss kills you. The game was hard enough already.

Radiata Stories is a great game, and the first half of it is fucking amazing but then about the halfway point something major happens and you're forced to either stay in the city or follow the girl. I understand why they did it, and it does give perspective, but it weakens both experiences. If you go with the girl, Jack's character evolves, but he stops having much of a personality. If you stay in the city, you get to keep doing the fun stuff from the first half but it feels like the wrong path and that the game was incentivizing you to follow her.

The manga did it much better, the girl leaves and forces Jack to stay thus creating a much more dramatic second half where she's amassing an army of monster folk to take down the humans while she becomes sort of evil, and Jack and her fight it out in several skirmishes.

Oh man I remember headshots in MGO.

I hated it. The second you would turn a corner, you would drop dead. Sometimes even before you turned the corner.
