I don't know, I spent years wishing for a Cloverfield 2, and the one I got, while not quite what I was expecting, was so much better than I could have expected, so I'm cool with whatever they wanna do.

I hate when there's major unanswered questions. To me, it's the writers being lazy. If you have to ask where did something come from, and you have no intention of answering it and leave it at "idk", that's laziness. Something can still be fucking amazing with them, but I'll never say it's one of the reasons for it being amazing.

Cloverfield 2 is actually called 10 Cloverfield Lane. I have not seen it yet but it is very different. it's mostly a completely different movie that just takes place in the same universe

Yes to both.

The thing is 10 Cloverfield Lane wasn't even a Cloverfield movie, it was already made and JJ decided to change up a couple scenes, give it a vague tie in to the franchise, and throw the Cloverfield name on it. Same with this one I believe. It was an indie movie that was already made without the up front intention of it being a Cloverfield movie.

He's basically just making it a loosely thematically connected anthology series at this point.

You should watch it. It's pretty short, well-paced, and the "threat" is real and present from pretty early on.

it's a little different though. Blair Witch was more subtle. you practically saw nothing until the very end of the movie and even then....you didn't really see anything

cloverfield actually does give you views of the monster throughout the movie.

yea...i mean i get what they were going for...a monster attack from the perspective of the people involved in the attack. I'm not sure if there is a better way to execute that but the fact that he never puts the camera down through all of it does kind of hurt the reality of the movie....but then...its a movie where a radioactive monster from the sea attacks a city so i feel like if i can suspend reality for that i can suspend it for the camera man...

I think he just has never seen any other Found Footage movie other than Blair Witch. Blair Witch spawned a whole genre. but if he has been under a rock this whole time, then any other found footage movie is just a Blair Witch ripoff to him

Yes, impressions can be false. I'm not really sure why that is a reason to be hostile to me about it. I mean if I was like, "did you see Gem and the Holograms?", and you were like, "no, that doesn't look like something I'd like", I wouldn't immediately go, "well watch it before you pass judgment!".

I think answering everything can remove a lot of horror and tension from a movie or can bog it down. It would have been ridiculous if that small group of young people found out where the monster came from and it wouldn't have added anything to it at all.

They've never announced a direct sequel to Cloverfield and I don't believe they've ever stated these other Cloverfield movies are set within the same universe. I believe it's meant to be more like an anthology series.

maybe not officially announced the project, but Abrams has said he wanted to do one. he talked about a scene where the camera guy passes by and looks at another person with a camera, and he said he wanted to make a movie from that person's perspective and tie the 2 movies together through that moment when they both look at each other
