this has been a popular theory i think. frieza somehow weasels his way into being the last fighter remaining and gets some dastardly wish

What a great episode, at least 17 got some awesome moments before he's taken out. That almost makes up for the travesty of Gohan's final stand.

Hitting Frieza with that rock to keep him in was genius

I mean really the ridiculous part is that there's 1 minute per episode. Even if you say "okay there's more than one thing happening at a time" just from talking alone there has to be at least 10 minutes per episode.

Well technically it is canon going all the way back to Krillin vs Roshi at the 21st Budokai that super speed really does work like that in DB.

That's exactly what's happening actually....

Roshi and Krillin played a game and had a full conversation of dialogue as well as a fight and other stuff in less than10 seconds. The characters now are quadrillion's of times more powerful. It is super ultra slowed down for us.

The Cell vs Gohan beam clash that took 30 minutes probably took like 38 seconds.

Kaioken LITERALLY last for a heart beat. Or in otherworlds the entire beam struggle against Vegeta from the moment he went KK to end was the lentgh of blinking.

It's why 5 minutes took like 29 episodes

Filler is more to blame for most of those extensions than any in universe time. Kais 5mins on Namek is like 5-6 episodes I think

Bystanders really fuck with the "they're doing everything fast, including talking" explanation, especially when they don't have super powers.

But even more than that, they've long since hit the point where speed of sound should be a limiting factor in talking during a fight. I'd say everyone should be telepathically communicating all the time at this point to subvert that, but tbf people would accuse them of being cheap with animation if they did that.

Also, in my personal opinion, even if toppo were just jiren 2.0 as far as plotline goes, it'd be okay because he looks so much more badass than jiren.

He reminds me of heihachi. I think it's the way his ears point up so high with his bald head, it reminds me of heihachi's hair.

It's kind of hilarious that if everyone had the mindset of 17 then like 90% of all dbz content wouldn't have happened. It's really kind of refreshing just how pragmatic he is.

An idea I was hoping someone would do (I'd do it myself if I had any video editing skills) is to take the episodes and somehow make them fit the 48 minute timeframe. You can try to have as many scenes running concurrently as possible, speed up internal monologues and dramatic pauses and most action scenes...

But even then it's ruined by some characters, or the crowd, commentating on what's going on in a battle so that's a limiting factor.

And every time a universe gets erased everybody stands around for like, a full minute... it is pretty funny.

There was somebody who was doing that, but I haven't seen a new video out of him for a while. This is the most recent one I can find:
