Need to upgrade my wardrobe and current look to something more fashionable. Have some friends including 2 gay guys that are really into clothes that are coming with me since they buy a lot of Dolce and Gabbana, Gucci and Givenchy type clothes. I might swing by Bape as well to add some style.

I spent enough on upgrading my PC and my gaming setup so this year its my look and attire.

Anyone on CE have any recommendations? Just no Supreme crap I hate that brand.

Not sure where you live or your age but if you are under 30 I recommend Stone Island they have seen a resurgence in popularity in the last year among the youth especially for their jackets and sweaters.

Comme Des Garcons also is a good one to check out especially for their recent stuff.
Can't go wrong with Undercover, Kenzo or Les Hommes either.

ermenegildo zegna is a far higher quality brand than the ones you name dropped, but not really any more expensive.

if you like the 'trad' look, an oxxford blazer is pretty much top of the heap, as well.

Tbh, $3k isn't a lot for the brand's you're naming. A jacket from stone island is like $700. A shirt from CDG is at least $100...most are about $150.

Why not shop at alternate brands like cotton on or urban outfitters? They're similar styles but not as expensive.

Lacoste polos are timeless, come in four different fits with several sizes for each fit, and come in dozens of colors; flamingo is a must.

For quality, casual pants I recommend checking out Adriano Goldschmied. The material is very soft and slightly stretchy so they are very comfortable. They come in different styles. I like their tailored style pants and shorts. They're high quality without being flashy.

it's not like all products by those companies are of the slicked-hair eurotrash variety

they've all got modern styles that look appropriate and are (theoretically, not really) better made than competing, cheaper brands

I'll cop a white t-shirt from a brand name over some garbage quality shit any day.

depends on the brand

a lot of brands' build quality sucks

ex: armani's top quality label suits (georgio armani label, right? I can't keep up they have too fucking many) are half-canvassed

meanwhile, a "lesser" brand like corneliani, that costs like a quarter as much, sells full-canvas suits

Yeah a lot of those high fashion brands are spending money for the sake of it. Fine if you're a millionaire but theres much more reasonable choicse for everyone else.

I own merino wool sweaters, fitted italian wool Canali suits, made in usa jeans, brooks brothers makers and merchants shirts. Guess what? I didn't spend stupid amounts of money on them cuz I know how to look for quality and value.

i am considering paying a tailor to remove some of the shoulder padding.

I would rather look poor than be poor. I have a family I provide for and a love for fast cars. We all have different priorities in life. The brands discussed in this topic are not actually even available in my area. As mentioned before, if you like nice clothes, buy them. Just realize that the guy in Levis you laugh at for being poor could be driving off in his 911 or could be retiring by the time he hits 40 because he chooses to spend his money in a different way.

Also, as a bodybuilder, I dont think any of these haute couture brands make anything that can fit my gluteus and quads. As it turns out, the ladies stare more at whats in my jeans than whats on them.

Alternatively Polos aren't as nice as a button down, nor as comfortable as a tee.

They aren't professional by any means and accentuate the fact that you don't work out and are best paired with big clunky white sneakers and cargo shorts to complete the "I'm a dad that's given up on looking good but sure can BBQ " look.

That outfit has nothing on the light blue button down with Walmart khakis and Payless black rubber "fancy" shoes that says "I'm still in school but my mom says I need to dress up" look.

The projection is strong with this user. Lifting weights is a struggle between you and the bar. Its a constant progression that leads to an improvement in power. Lifting weights has improved my posture, my confidence, my speed, and my ability to do work. Ive gone from the tall lanky quiet guy who nobody ever speaks with to someone who exudes confidence and can even be physically intimidating to those who dont know me.

Im married and I just take it as a compliment, but women now initiate conversations with me. If I was this big when I was younger, getting a date would have been a whole lot easier.

We all have different experiences in life and lifting weights benefits mine.

My long sleeve button downs are as soft as any polo I've ever worn. It's not knit but its quality cotton, very light and airy on the skin.

I guess thinking back 20 years wearing short sleeve button downs I didn't tuck in, some of those were rough I guess. But in the $50/shirt range you can get really soft long sleeve button downs.
