Likely it is on the way out. Again. My prom (in 2004) was '80s themed. Different parts of that decade came back in style at different points. Of course, some wars were averted. Bill Clinton blocked the UN from intervening in the Rwandan Genocide because apparently Clinton didn't feel black lives mattered.
