For those folks who only own controllers powered e.g. by non-rechargeable batteries (like Wii Remotes).

So the GC, PS2, and Xbox also came out in the 20th century?

In a rechargeable controller, battery life past the length of a single session doesn't actually matter, since you can just recharge it as soon as you're done. Charging speed does, and if the battery life is shorter than a single session (see: the WiiU gamepad), then it can become an issue, but otherwise it won't make a difference. It does matter for non-rechargeable ones, though, since that dictates how often you're going to be buying new batteries.

Wii U gamepad's life isn't great but are you playing for like 6 hours in a row? Mine has never dropped in one session...

On occasion. Of course, when it did run out, it was a pretty simple matter of unplugging the charge cable from the cradle and plugging it into the controller, so it was hardly catastrophic, but it was still an issue that did come up from time to time.

panasonic eneloop pros.

i don't have to charge them for several days.

i have to charge my ps4 controller every day/other day it seems.

it had actually been a while since i had used the controller, and i know what i put it up it was fully charged. it was fully dead by the time i started using it again

i don't like that. replaceable batteries cannot be beat. there's literally no excuse good enough to justify a nonreplaceable internal battery.

Which just means you leave it charging when you're done playing. That's pretty inconsequential, really.

PS2 was literally 3 months off.

The cable connectors are literally from the 40s and you saw fuck all about composite or SCART after the first decade of the 21st century, making them firmly 20th century technologies.

I have a recharge stand for my Wiimotes. You had to buy it seperately, but it was available.

For PS4, I charge it everytime I'm done. For XBox, I bought rechargeable batteries. Before I found those, I had to buy batteries like I use to for my gameboy color. They should probably do what Sony did and make a rechargeable controller again...

Though they probably have something on Amazon I could buy...

Do you mean when the batteries die? Because you can charge it while playing. Or do you mean, when it goes completely? Because I've never had that happen.

I don't think number of games are as important. I can have 10 Xbox games and 1 PS4 game and still play the PS4 way more based on the game...

typically the system you have the most games on is the one you're playing. there would be no point in buying the majority of the games, ones that are mainly multiplatform, on a system that isn't your main.

this matters less for consoles of older generations, though, to be fair.

I agree that it is usually the case. I guess it's different for every person, though. I know some games, I really like. And end up playing them sometimes all day when I have a day off. Or playing it the whole time I'm home from work...
