I scoffed at the notion and told her it's rude to request that of guests. What if someone has foot odor, what if someone has nasty feet or holey socks they're ashamed of? What if someone doesn't want to walk around in everyone's foot sweat and other nasty floor stuff? Not only that but in this case the whole house is hardwood.
