0 washes, 2 years. Is it rude to bring it in that way or should I assume that they're denim heads too?

Of course they're denim heads. They run a denim repair shop. If anything you guys will be talking about how great it is you've never washed it or whatever.

I'm gonna call them when they open in an hour and see what's up. Anyone have any experience with repairing crotch blowouts? What's the average cost?

One of them is kinda but I can febreeze it. I'm more concerned about the texture more than anything.

Maybe you should call the shop first before bringing in the jeans.
I don't think using Febreeze would be great for the fabric but I'm not an expert.

Yeah I'm gonna call them in a few minutes when they open. Febreeze is alright to spray on denim though. I mean it'll smell like you just febreezed your jeans which I would probably think is a little disheartening for the seamstress lol

You just don't want to overdo the febreeze or else it just smells like slightly fresh dirty ass jeans. Too much Febreeze usually has the opposite effect of what it's supposed to do.

Fixing jeans for $25 instead of spending however much on a new pair seems like a no brainer. But I'm more of a denim head than a hipster, unless they're not exclusive anymore.

Jean repair has been a huge thing since jeans were created. It's only until recently (since like the 80s or 90s) that people would toss out their old jeans in order to just buy new ones. Shit isn't a smart purchase either when you have something that can be easily fixed.

Yeah in the old days it would have made sense. But as for me, $25-45 to repair vs $30-ish to replace...

I sew on another button, because a button can be found in the bottom of the coin jar.

If my jeans tear, I wear them torn because I don't wear them to work and nobody else cares.

If they get catastrophically torn, a new pair is cheaper than your quoted repair.

I'd much rather pay the repair cost than pay for a replacement pair as the repair cost for my jeans is a lot less than the cost for a new pair. And they're already broken in.

The difference between $20 jeans and $100+ jeans is night and day.

Genuinely curious:

What constitutes being a denimhead? Are you buying raw denim or some other expensive denim? I read about raw denim and there was a picture bragging about the fade after all the work that went into the jeans, and it looked identical to the jeans I bought at the store that I've owned for a while. What am I missing by going to tj maxx and spending under $20 on marked down Levi's or Calvin Klein jeans? Do you ever put jeans in the freezer?

Mainly raw selvedge denim yeah. The quality is much better, after a long time with no wash there is a huge difference in terms of look (every pair will look different), and it really can't be replicated. A real distress vs premade distress are very clearly different. Pre-distressed jeans (whiskers, honeycombs, the works) are also usually ugly as fuck.

If you don't care about what you wear it's not really an issue. And that's not a knock on you, or anyone really, but the reason why I don't wear $20 jeans is the same reason why I don't wear $10 button ups from Wal-Mart.

Oh and I've done the freezer things a few times. It works but I don't do it often. I just febreeze but hardly ever cuz my jeans don't usually get too much stank on them.

A lot of people are into the whole bathtub soak thing too. Not for me either. I don't want my jeans to come in contact with any large amount of water.

I've about four pairs that I've had since 2012. I've only managed to avoid washing one of them entirely. My white pair got some evil dirt and grass stains from a fall three years back that demanded immediate washing. Another pair got sick on it, ditto. Beyond that, I wash these less than once a year, significantly less because I cycle through them and rarely wear them more than once a week.

Damn I can't pull off white jeans tbh. And I would think if I owned a pair I would eventually have to wash them. Most of my jeans are very dark blues. I own a pair of light wash that I never wear. Just not my style.

I haven't washed a pair of jeans since probably 2010. A bunch of jeans have been retired since then due to crotch blowouts but I'm gonna get this lady to hopefully fix them all.

Over the years I have at least 4 or 5 jeans with crotch blow outs. I'm mostly concerned about my last pair cuz I really like them but if she'll cut me a deal I'll end up getting them all fixed.

Maybe for a week or two at most depending on how you break them in. But once you do they soften while still keeping most of their strength.

If anything I feel like prewashed denim feels weird now. Or bad quality denim (H&M, Express, Diesel) feels like trash too.
