I've never heard UC3 called that, but yeah, it does get a bit too reliant on cinematics from what I remember. UC4 fixes that with some outstanding gameplay, though.

UC3 is really good, but UC4 is excellent, so it's not the death of anything.

I've heard several places point to UC3 as a microcosm for loss of agency and skill in AAA gaming. Pre-Rec (from redlettermedia), for one.

Not saying that this was the game that did it, but it's a prime example.

and everyone who is saying UC4 rebounded and was fantastic, they're right. UC4 > UC2 imo, both are pretty much 10/10 so UC4 is one of my all time favorites

Man, what? The combat in UC4 was a massive improvement. The AI being able to lose track of your positioning and the sheer versatility each battlefield offers in it's platforming made for some of the most intense and enjoyable firefights in the genre.

This is good to hear. UC2 is probably my favorite game of that entire generation (albeit with somewhat limited experience). UC3 is fun so far, but so much is just mindless button tapping.
