Best of luck Harpie :D based on what you've posted on here it is by far the best option for you. It's not worth living with an abusive alcoholic parent for an extended amount of time just so some pretentious assholes don't look "down on" you for not having a real HS diploma, which after college will be a moot point anyway. How often do you see people follow up "so what did you get your college degree in?" With "but did you graduated HS?" ?

Getting a GED is a bad option if you have the option of going to high school.

Employers aren't legally supposed to discriminate against people with GEDs, but they will anyway and just call it a different name. Even though a GED is a diploma equivalent, it's still considered the weaker of the two options
