Given the sheer amount of crap he's done, he's really not. The fact that he's still able to find work after some of his roles suggests that he's overrated. Granted, I didn't much like him *before* that awful 1408 adaptation and I'm less inclined to like him now.

While he's one of those people where I typically think "it's John Cusack" when I see him in movies (rather than the character), I still really enjoy his movies. 1408 is by far my favourite.
