It's only for smart kids My nephew made a "robot head" out of a cardboard box once. 30 minutes later it was completely destroyed and thrown in the garbage. LEGO is literally all about assembly. Play-doh, too if you just have a bunch of generic lego bricks you aren't assembling any one specific thing. you are just stacking bricks on whatever the fuck you feel like and what your imagination can come up with. Same goes for playdoh but it's more like clay sculpting. It's not the same as being given a list of specific parts that have to fit together a specific way or the object you end up with is junk. The basic lego and playdoh paradigm is more like art and less like architecture. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah I guess those two are considerably more aimless. But at the same time, you can't exactly expect kids to build something of a Labo magnitude, where you make shit so sensors trigger the IR in the right way.
All toys are just creating an illusion of construction and stimulating the creative mind. It's supposed to be a lead up to something better in the child's future, not be the end all be all by itself. --- "Iwata was awesome" - Mr. Nintendo Click here to unlock the meaning of life! ... seriously though this thread got me thinking about how cool it would be if there was a Mr. Potato-Head style Amiibo.
Like, start with a Mii and you can pull off their hair, clothes, hat, other items, etc, and then scan them. You can already kind of do something like that with the Monster Hunter Stories amiibo but it's less modular. It would be super fucking cool if they found a way to make it so that the game would be able to pick up what accessories your amiibo had when it was scanned in. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

The sad thing is TC more 25-30 year old foreveralones will buy this than actual parents for their kids. I don't really care how they spend their money. I just think these things have extremely complicated assembly that is going to be beyond most kids, and the assembly is the majority of the product as the games themselves likely aren't that interesting. Like, these look roughly about the same as Ikea furniture and I wouldn't expect kids to do that either. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
