broke my record by some distance akin to Bob Beamon in the long jump.
before it was 00004857 today i found a 2013 one dollar note serial A00000667* so bill #667, and its a star note. definitely worth over face value. perhaps i could sell this for twentybux or so but i have to do my research. for reference bill serial 00000001 goes for several thousand in any condition. hooray! there still is good bills aht there! ... series 1988a c53159444e Older bill, wanted to see if it was a web note but it is not series 2006 d79593979d every other number a 9 series 2006 g00821703* star note, high print run of 3.2 million series 2013 b00009199b third bill ive ever found with four zeroes at the front. low serial. maybe a sign of good luck? would be worth decent money if that 1 was a 9 only real keeper for me is the low serial onward! ... a star note is a note designated by a star after the serial number.
Normally bills are printed from 00000001 to 99999999, and after it goes A, B, C, etc when each 99m are printed. it just cycles through the alphabet. When bills are printed that are errors such as a miscut or something, those bills are pulled, and the printing resumes as normal. to make up for the error bills they make star note print runs to replace the damaged bills. You can look up and see if yours comes from a high or low print run here: http://www.mycurrencycollection.com/reference/star-notes/lookup The most common are 3.2 million print runs, but they go as low as 80,000. I have a few rarer star notes from 640K and I think a 320K print run. people collect star notes as they are a little more rare(expect 1-2 per hundred notes, give or take), but 3.2 million run star notes can be spent without regret. the lower ones you should keep and try to sell as they have a premium. bill condition also matters, too. low print runs in excellent shape sell for more. You can check the bills in your wallet and see if you have any. you easily could. For reference just check my image. that little star is whatcher look for. ... Copied to Clipboard!

another thing i am looking for is mismatched serial numbers. these command quite a premium. You can find them, but they are extremely rare.
This is when the two serial numbers on the face of the bill do not match. They dont look unusual as in you wont find one serial number that looks misprint or anything, just two serials, both look normal but do not have the same number. left serial: 78261896 right serial: 78458996 ... i try to be informative because i want to encourage other people to do this. to be clear, this hobby is free. You get money back in change, when you cash checks, from the ATM...you can even do what I did today and get 500 in ones, look through em, and deposit it back in the next day. Money I get that I set aside is still worth face value, that will never change. the most you need is the ability to shuffle money around in a short period of time.
did two more straps, so three total. not much in these, though im also not looking up close under a scope to get some nitty gritty errors which you can find. My routine is check the series, check the serials, make sure they match, and see if there are any obvious errors. Got a star note in the last strap...lets see how rare it is: http://www.mycurrencycollection.com/reference/star-notes/lookup/1/2013/h06317489 ....No. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah the only downside is you frustrate bank workers with outrageous demands like 500 dollars in 1's. If I worked in a bank and knew you were the type to ask for this stuff I would immediately take a break as you walked in.

what? bank workers do this for a living. hundred dollar straps are pre counted and wrapped. by a bill counting machine that can count thousands in seconds.
i went in, filled out a slip, teller asked me how i wanted it back and i said ones. she didnt seem to mind, opened her lockbox and pulled out five stacks and handed them over and i left. wont go back into the bank to deposit it because i can use an atm. but if i dont want to use an atm the teller inside can handle my request just fine because its common. ... So, went through 100 dollars so far. gonna have to check em again when i have better lighting, but all i found was a serial of 71111171
If that second 7 was a 1, i'd have a seven of a kind which is decent money. Even better theyd all be trailing the 7. Ive found six of a kind several times, but never seven and never a full solid of 8. 6 is like the max before it gets ultra tough/rare ... Copied to Clipboard!
