How mainstream it's going.

Like at this point there's pretty much an expectation for everyone to smoke now, and if you don't, you're considered weird in those circles.

I've been arguing in favor of legalizing it for like 15 years now because my mother is a pothead but holy shit am I tired of stuff like "yeh breh, u 420 friendly rite" lol.

I'm becoming more and more disenfranchised with the whole "weed community" tbh. Way too many ignorant stoners who try to sweep legitimate issues with weed use under the rug under the blanket guise of "it's harmless".

rofl where

do you live in an older legalized state, like WA or CO?

if you find people that would exclude you based on smoking or not smoking weed, you should find new friends

I love weed, but i learned from experience that daily use waa highly detrimental to my personal well being. I only do it occasionally now.

Nah it's not a matter of being explicitly excluded, it's more the idea that like I said, you're kind of expected to be smoking it on a regular basis. Like, you'll be at a party and a large chunk of people there will suddenly go outside to smoke or have edibles. And when they offer you some and you decline, they're like "Oh... You sure?"

Mind you most of my friends are in their 30s and aren't actual potheads. But that's my point. I don't mind when legit stoners act that way, but now that sentiment kinda feels like it's becoming the norm.

Also it reeeeeally doesn't help that my mother is like notorious in both my family and friend circles for being a stoner lol. People legit will ask me if I can get brownies from her next batch for them.

She's fucking 73 years old :|

This is so dumb when people say this. No "stoners" sit around and just talk about weed all day. Either you haven't really hung out with any stoners or your friends are like 15 and just started smoking

I see that a lot here on CE. It's the magically drug that cures all society's ills. But in the circle of people I know in life, if any of them smoke, I have no idea because they haven't told me. If they are, I am thankful they aren't like CE.

It's great but the 420 shit makes us look like a bunch of 14 year olds.

To be fair, the whole mainstream/underground thing is idiotic too no matter the subject.

Some of my friends were cool and interesting people until they started smoking weed. Then it was all they would ever talk about. They're like 25 now and they're still like that.

How is that any different from how people treat alcohol? And the society pressure on drinking alcohol to be social at gatherings is 100x worse than weed is

I mean for what it's worth I think that's stupid too, and no one is saying it isn't in this thread.
That said it's not a great comparison because you can drink alcohol without becoming drunk, for the taste. No one smokes weed without the intention of getting high. Plus for what it's worth, in my experience as long as you're not 20, that expectation to drink doesn't really seem as apparent to me, but YMMV I guess.

Me personally, my drinking days are behind me. I have a glass of whiskey at home every Friday night, and my girlfriend and I homebrew cider. Besides that, I rarely drink anymore at parties. Literally can't remember the last time I was drunk.
And yes I find that alienating too, but not to the extent that weed is.
