Do you consider Trans Women real Women?

With some of the recent controversy in another topic posted recently it would be interesting to see where people here stand on this issue.

Real meaning, you would treat them as you would treat any women. Doesn't mean you have to date them, but more you would treat the trans part as something like being overweight, or smoking. Not something that would make them less of a women. Nothing to do with dating.

Real in the sense that they exist. I don't think a trans woman is the same as a cis woman. A trans woman is a trans woman. Same with trans men.

Haha I was just about to make a topic like this. I currently have one up in another forum.

My results so far
16 yes they are
3 yes they are and you're a bigot to say otherwise
12 no they are not
9 no and you'd be crazy to say otherwise

Close, but No has the lead with 21 to 19 yes'

Another interesting note, is that the people who were supporters of yes were incredibly hostile. They flamed people who thought otherwise, called them stupid, bigot (their favorite word), trolls and had numerous cries to close the topic/silence the opposition

I am interested in seeing if the above was an anomaly or not

Me not calling you something that isn't true isn't inherently disrespectful, though. I, as a reasonable person, cannot expect you to call me The Rock. If you want to please me and call me The Rock; great. But I cannot be mad and consider the people who don't refer to me as The Rock disrespectful

You're right, it isn't inherently disrespectful.

But when somebody insists that you refer to them using 'she' instead of 'he' and you intentionally refer to them as 'he', then that is being disrespectful.

No, but I don't have an issue with them.

I don't have a problem with them being trans, I don't think they should assaulted or harassed for it, I acknowledge that transition therapy and surgery are probably the best treatment we currently have for their mental health and well being, I'm okay with insurance and Medicaid paying for the transition, etc.

But no amount of transition, with our current technology, will get me to believe they are real women. I file them under "trans women" and will use the feminine pronouns as a courtesy, but that's about as far as I'll go.

Pretty much this. Though I'm not too sure Medicaid paying for it. But I am married and have no plan of changing that, so I may never have to consider it. But I have not seen any transgendered woman that "passes" (as I guess is the correct term) as a woman and/or hasn't had so much cosmetic surgery that she doesn't look like the cis women plastic dolls that are unattractive to me.

Absolutely not. That is your subjective thinking. No reasonable and normal person would start referring to you as whatever you wanted to be referred to. And just because they don't want to, does not mean they respect you any less. I cannot expect my boss, who respects me, to be cool with referring to me as His Majesty. It wouldn't be reasonable, and him not complying cannot be logically considered as an act of disrespect
