A lot of people have said it, especially after GTA V came out with 3 switchable protagonists that were all male. That said, it's still clearly a bait topic. Personally I'd like single player to have a customizable character with a few different voice options to choose from. You can already play as a female character in GTAO and people who think it "wouldn't work" in a GTA story have a very small imagination apparently (and perhaps also a bad memory considering the main antagonist of GTA3 was a woman, and there was another competent female character in crime in that story). I'm pretty sure old Rockstar would have got around to it, but I'm not sure if this new twisted, drunk on microtransactions Rockstar still cares. Maybe. They do appreciate the value of controversy being free advertising, and making a female protagonist for the next GTA (Well likely using a similar model to GTA5 for protagonists to not alienate the weirdos who can't stand not playing as a guy) would certainly create a lot of free buzz about them. Really the question of whether or not a female protagonist would work relies on a simple question: can a female character exist who did bad criminal things but then decided to stop but is so half-hearted in truly stopping they are easily strung along by someone with the government to do more crime while indulging in 10x as much on the side as they go? Yes. Yes quite easily. So congrats: a female can be a Rockstar sandbox game protagonist. --- I am snazzier, hot, hot rant. Warily slight as. Croak rush, OK?
