The only reason why I'm making a topic about it is because I don't watch movies in the theater that often

but uh

this movie is ..so off. Like, it was written by a bunch of old men in an office thinking they know whats funny or knew how kids acted. Its such...a shell.

its ironic that they made a joke about them making fun of someone with 90s lingo when the comedy in the movie made it feel like they should've released it 5-10 years ago

but anyways, it was harmless overall. It was definitely a movie for the casual goers. People in the audience were cracking up. Some Jokes made me laugh too. Its fine. I'm far from a movie snob but this is really how it was.
Also No lasting power. I'm sure theres SOME people that went in for the Jumanji "Brand" but they definitely didn't try to ride on the Robin Williams one since it was so radically different. At least, very far

It was surprisingly more crude than it appeared it would be, I thought it'd be more of a family movie. More penis jokes than I expected >_>

I found it interesting that they put that Pilot kid back in the 90s instead of sticking him in the present. I feel like that should've changed the timeline much more and other things should've been different

eh, not much more to say about it

Harmless is the right word.

In no world is it a good movie, but it is generic by the numbers schlock that isn't hurting anybody

Is it similar enough for there to even be a reason to have it named Jumanji?

It exists to exploit nostalgia for the original. I guess it makes sense to update it to a video game, that's not a terrible idea.

not sure how it's supposed to exploit nostalgia for the original when it seems to have almost nothing to do with the original, unless the exploiting is simply going "remember JUMANJI? this is also JUMANJI!" i loved the original as a kid and based on the trailers i have 0% interest for this movie.

I saw it and it was way better than I was expecting it to be. I don't understand the hate some people have for it.

I actually like that they changed things around and didn't go into the same old well of "kids play a board game and stuff happens to them". It was a legitimate sequel that built on the old plot. But I thought it was true to the original in that the action and danger was all based around the concepts of it being a "game", except instead of dice rolling and moving tokens it plays with cliches around extra lives, difficulty levels and NPCs, and it did it in a way that wasn't very condescending towards video games like most media is. It was actually kind of clever in some ways how they handled it, although admittedly it wasn't that deep.

I thought the movie itself was great. Aside from Kevin Hart (who was still really funny) it was fairly believable that characters were all still the teenagers in different bodies, especially Jack Black who was the best part of the movie. And it had some really funny moments. The action was intentionally over the top and cartoonish which some people may not like, but it made it funny and enjoyable. It's not a masterpiece, but I say it was damn good.

It was fun, harmless movie. Not terribly deep or memorable but I enjoyed my time.

Hollywood has figured out that you can take a "harmless movie" and cast The Rock and you are guaranteed like 300+ million.
