I'm fairly sure that autism is a social disability rather than a cognitive one. Not sure, though. If it does have some cognitive effect, it could have a big effect on his abilities depending on how high he is on the spectrum. Overall, you shouldn't tell him to stop. If he's not particularly good with the character, just try to make sure he's just playing casually and let him have fun.
