US Army make school shooting simulator for saving lives

American teachers will be provided with a simulation to help them protect children in the event of a gunman entering a school. Since 2000, nearly one-third of mass shootings involved a school according to the FBI. This simulation has been created by Homeland Security and the US Army to help save lives. It allows users to see through the eyes of a teacher, pupil, police officer or gunman. This technology has previously been used to prepare soldiers for a war situation. The simulation can analyse what factors effect outcomes such as automatic closing doors.

Honestly, this sort of stuff is a dime a dozen, and has been for years. The problem is that some desperate news outlet picked up one game because they had good publicity and acted like this was some sort of anomaly.

Hell, Neo-Nazis and KKK members have their own games, why is shit like this a surprise? The more time we waste with it, the longer it will be around. Not to say we shouldn't talk about it, but the faux-outrage is sort of not helping.

Thought it was gonna be some tasteless game about killing kids, but a serious sim isn't bad. Don't know how much it would actually help anyone and being able to be the shooter is kinda iffy lol but whatever. Honestly though, I hope this doesn't come off as insensitive or anything but the idea of playing as a random person trying to survive a mass shooting sounds like an interesting idea for a game.

Even if it was super rare, training people to deal with this stuff is a good idea. Again though, I don't know if a video game is the best way to teach people these things.

The gun ban we have in schools is the PROBLEM.

If you equip a few teachers in each school with weapons, school shooters won't be able to do anything.

School shooters mostly dont care that they will die, so how will armed teachers stop a student from pulling a gun in class and shoot at a random student?
Or will all teachers look like Rambo, openly carrying big guns and always look at every student, pointing guns at them for nothing?

This sounds kind of stupid.

Like I get using simulations for something like not crashing a space shuttle because those are mechanics and natural event like minor meteoric collisions or whatever you'd call it.

This is a simulation for the mind of a disturbed individual. You can't control the variables or correct for how to best make a barricade or whatnot in a given situation.

The fact that the US army feels this is needed is why the rest of thr first world sees the US as being backwards as fuck.
