it just gives the (natural) monopolies more power to screw over the consumer
you cant just buy better internet, you get what you are given

not to mention it will screw over unrelated third parties (website owners)

They are stupid.

The elimination of NN puts all the big content companies (Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc.) on notice. Now, the playing field is leveled. A smaller company has the capability to pay a bit more to get higher priority traffic. They can use this opportunity to get a leg up on the monstrous companies out there. I don't see a downside to this change. It's a "win-win" for consumers.

If a smaller company can pay more to get more traffic than these big content companies can pay more to get even more traffic. All this does is shut down the smaller companies cause they can't compete money wise with the big companies.

They don't. Supporters of repeal care first and foremost about the decision benefiting ISPs and making it easier for them to make money. Anything else is PR.

And the monstrous companies have monstrously more money to pay for higher priority so they can stay on top over the smaller companies

The argument by Pai and his apologists is that ISPs need to "break free" from "heavy-handed Obama-era regulations" to invest in infrastructure, even though 1) infrastructure investment as it is is at a high, 2) the fact that ISPs need better profit margins to afford infrastructure investment is both blatantly false and hilarious, and 3) if there's been any problem with infrastructure enhancement, it's that entrenched ISPs like AT&T and Comcast have been blocking Google from successfully implementing GF - so strengthening these companies any further will hurt infrastructure improvement and expansion, if anything.

Hey, google might not have been able to compete, but this doesn't mean new companies can't. A kind billionaire might invest in them, or they may be able to get enough money to do better than google!

No one was actually for repealing net neutrality, right? I thought the only people interested were the politicians and companies?

Yay for democracy, right? Let's do things that the public doesn't want.

This is simply incorrect. There are plenty of people out there who understand the importance of the repeal. They just aren't as vocal online.

There are a lot of really stupid people that actually believe it's possible for new ISPs to enter the market, and that net neutrality was making it more difficult for them to do so.

Nothing wrong with being a Trump backer. Don't forget that the vast majority of states voted for him. You're part of a small group if you don't support him.
