They are stupid. The elimination of NN puts all the big content companies (Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc.) on notice. Now, the playing field is leveled. A smaller company has the capability to pay a bit more to get higher priority traffic. They can use this opportunity to get a leg up on the monstrous companies out there. I don't see a downside to this change. It's a "win-win" for consumers. --- CE's source of sagely advice #BLM ... Copied to Clipboard!

They don't. Supporters of repeal care first and foremost about the decision benefiting ISPs and making it easier for them to make money. Anything else is PR.

The argument by Pai and his apologists is that ISPs need to "break free" from "heavy-handed Obama-era regulations" to invest in infrastructure, even though 1) infrastructure investment as it is is at a high, 2) the fact that ISPs need better profit margins to afford infrastructure investment is both blatantly false and hilarious, and 3) if there's been any problem with infrastructure enhancement, it's that entrenched ISPs like AT&T and Comcast have been blocking Google from successfully implementing GF - so strengthening these companies any further will hurt infrastructure improvement and expansion, if anything. Hey, google might not have been able to compete, but this doesn't mean new companies can't. A kind billionaire might invest in them, or they may be able to get enough money to do better than google! --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

There are a lot of really stupid people that actually believe it's possible for new ISPs to enter the market, and that net neutrality was making it more difficult for them to do so.
