The instructions always say this but I'd rather just have a softer crust and not have to clean the oven out afterwards, and also not have to figure out how to remove a pizza from an oven without ruining it/oven mitts.

I do it sometimes. I only don't do it when I put a bit of olive oil and garlic (powder or granulated) on the pan prior to placing the pizza on it and putting it into the oven.

Also, I usually use a fork to pull out the rack and then the same fork or two forks to slide it into the pan or onto some other surface.

You use a pizza pan...you know, the one youre not using.

Frozen pizza? Yeah all the time.

Shouldn't stick too bad since the rack bars or whatever are thin. I usually loosen it up from the rack with a spatula and slide it off to a plate.

Most of the time I cook it on the rack. The hard part can be not letting any of the toppings fall off. Then I'll have a stinky oven

If you put it on a pan, it's not directly on the rack.

Or do you mean one of those giant spatulas they have at the pizzerias? How do you even find space for one?

there are pizza "pans" that are just grates tho

or am i wrong

either way, it's not hard to lubricate the rack before putting the pizza on if you're worried about sticking...

I use a fork and stab the pizza with it and use another fork for the hot rack to pull it back. I pull the rack with one fork and then slide the pizza into the pan with the other fork by stabbing the now crispy pizza and pulling it into the pan.

easy:

put directly on rack

put baking sheet underneath, on 2nd rack to catch anything. not rocket science. also apparently cooking it longer gives you softer crust, if youre into that for whatever reason.

Put directly on rack. Use spatula to take it off. Literally never drips or sticks. What exactly is the problem?

Invest in a pizza stone. Only ever wipe it off with water. If you wash it with soap, every pizza cooked on it will taste like it.

Pizza stones are badass.
