But seriously, I have a hunch Ribbon Girl is getting in, or potentially Spring Man and Ribbon Girl as alternate costumes of each other.

I think we may see an actual inkling character and not just a Mii with moves based on different weapons (like down smash is roller or something)

I'm hoping at least one BOTW champion gets in the game. Hopefully Mipha.

I'd like to see them just ditch Zelda completely and rebuild her as the BotW version with a new moveset that isn't terrible.

I'd like to see them get rid of FLUDD from Mario and give him a Cappy-based move instead.

Add Pauline as a character.

I just hope they add in Rex but actually make a good representation of him rather than what they fucking did with Shulk. What Cloud is in Smash 4 is what Shulk should've been, where attacks build up to a big Monado art

For Rex, have him switch in between his 3 story blades, fuck all the spoilers, have the blades be on the background like Pokemon Trainer, make his b switch in between 4 styles, make it so neutral b does a special where the blades are but only usable when he's built up hits with his a moves

They only removed them because of 3DS hardware limitations

Inkling is GUARANTEED, they have a Switch combo pack, are everywhere in marketing, and are even in Mario Kart 8 deluxe. Id bet my account that they're in.

An ARMS character depends entirely on Nintendo's assessment of the release and whether they have plans to further the series.

The real question is what the roster size will be. Sm4sh was pretty huge but development was very possibly hindered by requiring roster parity with the 3DS. TBH I'm not knowledgeable on game design but I'd think that if they only have to design for Switch and get a strong team then the roster could increase quite a bit, which would give leeway for endangered veterans as well as less 'all-star'-like newcomers
