I do for games. Even if I have audio on it's hard to understand characters sometimes (especially when the audio shifts to some focal point that's apparently off the screen somewhere and it gets really quiet). Otherwise I tend to play with sound off because I play and watch TV with the wife.

Sometimes I do for games. If its a story Im mildly interested in Ill read it rather than sit through all the dialogue. Generally I just skip cutscenes though.

always when possible except for maybe standup because it ruins if a bit when you read the punchline before it's spoken.

also, hearing impaired subs just don't make sense.

"leaves blow in the wind"
"door creaks open"
"random banter"
"radio plays in the background"

Yeah, I use them because they help me focus on what's going on plus sometimes the sound mixing isn't so good so music/sfx can overtake the dialogue and you miss what was said.

Good question.

Usually I like them in case I cant hear certain bits and pieces of conversation.

Although lately theyve been a nuisance. Im trying to watch the office, and every time someone says a word, the caption completes the whole sentence before they even say it. Completely kills any jokes or suspense.

I have them on for everything all the time. Sports and other live programs are the worst, because they are always way behind, and not at all accurate.
