Yoda should have saved his lightsaber for the Emperor. They wasted that reveal on Dooku.

AotC Dooku should have edged out Obi-Wan and Anakin by use of his own dueling skills combined with force techniques which would showcase how seemingly OP the dark side is. Then Yoda walks in, DOESN'T USE LIGHTSABER, and then ragdolls Dooku with true hax.

RotS Yoda would start out the Emperor battle the same way, but quickly learns that not only does Palpatine match the Jedi Master, but he fucking dominates. This forces Yoda to try to close the gap and finish the fight with his lightsaber.

irl fights are more determined by stylistic match ups than combat math like "X beat Y who beat Z so X beats Z"

He doesn't have a very good track record against Count Dooku. He got owned in their first fight and only Yoda saved him. He also was incapacitated in the second Dooku fight. Obi-Wan was one of the best duelist, but he's hardly undefeated.

Likely the only reason Obi-Wan won on Mustafar was because he taught Vader everything he knows. Plus, strategic footing.

Vader lost to Luke because Luke was channeling his rage in that duel. The Emperor was happy about that, which is what brought Luke to his senses

I think people discredit the OT duelists cause of the lack of special effects. in the story, they are damn good. Luke should have more votes.

yeah, the format for light saber duels changed a lot between the OT and the new ones

also it makes more sense in the OT. in real life, sword duelers didn't do crazy stunts. it was too risky. if you saw 2 master swordsman fighting in real life, it would not look like in the movies. there would be alot of just standing around with both people studying the other for openings

Take note how Ben initially starts the bout in his PT fighting stance (pointing fingers), but he switches to something a bit less showy. Darth Maul begins his attack with a flip and fancy twirls. Obi-Wan counters and kills Maul in three moves. It's a very good scene.

You are forgetting that these people also have superpowers. If human swordfighters had powers you would probably see stuff like that.

The Second stance that Obi Wan moves into in that duel is the stance that Qui-Gon used during his duel with Maul in Phantom Menace.
It's also a bit more accurate into how most duels between swordmasters actually went in real life.
I feel like when you take into account all of the media available that Dooku is clearly the greatest duelist. He basically schools Obi-Wan and Anakin time and again over the course of the Clone Wars television series.

@ScazarMeltex Yoda uses that stance a lot, too. And notice Darth Maul tried to use the same hilt-to-the-face that killed Qui-Gon Jinn, but it didn't work on Ben.

Mace technically is automatically stronger than any sith or person with rage, since he can channel the power of the dark side without falling into its negative impacts (brash behavior, erratic fighting etc). Yoda was strongest with the use of the Force, and has knowledge on every Jedi that he trained. Luke EU wise was ridiculously OP, and is more similar to an anime character in terms of strength.

If I'm fighting a sith i pick Mace, an unknown opponent I pick Obi. And for anyone else its a toss up between Luke and Yoda
