This. A proper respect and understanding of where food comes from, and to teach them to use all of am animal, can be a good lesson.

She likes Bambi but she also knows theyre food. Shes been elk/deer/boar hunting with me for the last 2 years. More about teaching her to track, keep quiet and such. Shes already scraped hides with me and cleaned a few boar.

I was ready to take the shot and she drew and gave me the sign that she was ready. So I lowered my bow and not 3 seconds later she made the shot right in the heart. Buck went ass over head and that was it. She even went up to him and blessed his passing.

Longbow

That tough to believe, having a good bit of experience with archery and using longbows before, that an 8 year old could have enough strength to fire a kill shot. I agree with the others, a compound, sure. A longbow though? If it is true, very impressive feat.

This.

Even a compound bow would be hard to believe. I have no doubt plenty of 8yr olds are good shots, but unless your daughter is a genetic freak, I really really doubt she can pull back 30+ lbs of draw weight.

Story would be a lot more believable if you said crossbow.

She has a recurve but she doesnt like it. Traditional Iroquois longbows are made specifically for the user. Theres arent store bought, we went to upstate New York in the Adirondacks, just outside of Lake Placid to have it custom made e for her size. You dont have to believe it but you dont know bows the way we do.

It's not only the power needed to draw a longbow but the height, which that only casts doubt. Longbows are longer than 5 feet. You're telling me an 8 year old is several inches taller than 5 feet? Bullshit.

Edit: Iroquois longbows eh? Apparently they're shorter and the draw weights aren't so much. When you say longbows most people think English style longbows.

Nice to see someone who knows what an Iroquois longbow is. It cost me a small fortune to have made for her and shell outgrow it soon enough but shes got a younger sister who will happily take it on when she does outgrow it. Its a beautiful bow too

We dont do crossbows, and again, Iroquois longbows are made to suit the user. Not some mass produced, store bought bow. A bow meant to match her size and weight. Wood picked from the Adirondacks and hand made by a life long bow maker.

Ill post some soon, I didnt know Imgur wants you to sign up otherwise Id have posted pics already. Unless Im missing the easy upload they normally have(Im on iPhone).

Honestly, just go to Cabelas and get one of their.... I wanna say theyre called Seeker Outfitter longbows. They come in a package and arent expensive at all plus Cabelas does all the set up for you for free. Not just on their bows either so if you see something you really like theyll take care of you. I like the Cabelas here by me(not really by me, its a drive) in Arizona but I miss the one I had in Dundee, Michigan. Most of the staff there was great, at least the ones who ran their department. They had this girl there named Hailey who knew her shit. I think she even ended up taking the grand opening shot at the store they opened in Chesterfield, MI, not sure. I do know she moved to that store because I went to check it out when I went home for Thanksgiving. Nice store but half the size of Dundee and the staff kinda sucks.

You do know those mass produced compound bows are more efficient in transferring energy and are also fitted specifically to the user, right? You can adjust draw weight and length on any decent youth bow. I really dont see why you keep throwing out the meant to match the shooters size and weight, blah blah blah like that is something special.

I stand by the fact that 90% of 8yr old girls can not pull back a bow strong enough to kill a deer, at least not ethically or legally.

Another reason I doubt your claim is because most states have already had their gun season and are coming up on muzzle loader season. Archery season started months ago. I know some people still prefer archery but those are also people who have usually already finished hunting by now. Its not impossible...just a lot of things that add up to a somewhat hard to believe story. Especially with how often people on CE lie about pointless shit.
