I didn't even know that was possible to not have those channels. they already got rid of AMC a while ago. ABC Fox and CW are going away in january cause of "rising rates".

If you have cable/satellite its an eventuality.

I had Dish for a couple of years, they dropped local channels which was ok, they offered to send subscribers a tv antenna rather than fork out $ on a new agreement to provide them (local channels were not happy, playing ads urging you to call Dish and tell them you want their channel back)

When they dropped Turner channels (Cartoon Network & TBS) it was a different story.. they eventually got it back but I cut the cord like a lot of other people did during that time

I moved to Alaska and I thought cable made sense up here since internet can be expensive and I don't want to use up all my data if I can help it. so I got cable for the first time in like over 5 years. but yea, they keep doing stuff like this. they are a tiny company. it's only in alaska, and I think the negotiations are tough on them cause they don't have the deep pockets that comcast and the like have

If it was like when I lived there then GCI (I think thats what it was) has almost a monopoly for cable for the entire state. And they fucking suck.

yea, the only options for tv are GCI, and satellite.

Are they lowering your bill?

no the bill is staying the same I think. they said in the email that they would have to increase the bill, if they kept the channels.

The HD is really there, it's a bit weird how much clarity are on almost all the channels except some local ones that are part of some immigrant group/minority. The commercials suck for a bunch of channels but really great content. Sometimes it's nice having something that is so random, though while using the internet, ya have to look for it or find out about it.

It's a shame cable companies always get most of the blame in these cases. When the networks price gouge cable companies, the cable companies price gouge us, and get almost all of the blame for it, whereas the networks are the ones who just want us to be happy, or some junk like that.
