The surgeries, therapy and all that is mostly only available to people with money, time and supporting family/social structure. Everyone else does what they can. When people criticized Caitlyn Jenner has being the face of the community, this is why. Her experiences were not the experiences of many less fortunate transpeople, and in a way she glamorized it. Pay the homeless trans youth over there no mind. Really this all has to do with being able to pass. Successfully passing in public grants you the freedom to move around the city without fear of persecution or harassment. Getting murdered in the privacy of someone's bedroom is another matter. But if you look like a man, no one will attempt to stop you from entering the men's restroom, or start following you on the street because you look different. --- Whatever happened to standards? So you do get experience just going that way for a while to get a taste of it regardless. Some people are okay with just dressing occasionally, and whatnot, which would be what crossdressers and queens tend to do. For those with a more social and personal personal requirement, the full monty is much more important, but again that is up to personal choice how far down that road is required. I actually wasn't sure if I was going to want SRS for the first year at all, but the farther I got along the more I realized that at that point I was never going to enjoy sex while I still had a penis, and even in everyday life it was just always going to be in the way and an annoyance more than anything. Also, getting SRS reduced the number of medications I have to take, as there is no more testosterone to block, so it is a much lower impact on my liver and less potential side complications. Quality of life has gone up so much and just way lower stress in all directions. --- ZSB: We look so much better in a dress than you.
