I'm not going to magically stop liking certain music just because someone in the band is scum. While not as severe as that or what Brand New is accused of, Josh Homme just recently had an incident where he kicked a fucking camera into a photographer's face. He's a shithead for doing that. Am I suddenly going to stop enjoying Songs for the Deaf and their self-titled? It contextualizes a lot of his lyrics and so I don't blame someone if they don't want to listen to Brand New anymore. But it's not like realizing Jesse Lacey was a shitty person is anything new to Brand New fans; he himself has been singing about it since 2001. Personally, their music has had too much of an impact on me for me to give them up. Their last three albums have been very important to me when figuring out my own feelings towards religion, faith, self-esteem, self-hatred, depression, and a lot of other difficult emotions. I also don't think what he did was really out of the norm for the scene, not that I condone it. So yeah, I admit he's a creep like so many douches in the scene.
