I mean, a lot of conservatives, especially religious conservatives, are just good people who happen to be a bit old school.

However, some young people seem to mistake being conservative with being a sociopath and just basically brag about how they don't care about people suffering and use bad philosophy to justify it

Though almost every absolutely horrible person I've met has been a conservative. But they were mostly raised by horrible people so it's not really their fault.

I think "true" american conservatives are bascially a continuation of the early protestants of Europe

It's people who are very cynical of a centralized government. In the past that centralized government took the form of the catholic church. Today, it takes the form of the federal government. But in the end, it's pretty much the same sort of ideas. They have firm beliefs, and that is fine. They think that the poorest members of society should be given the tools needed to get themselves out of poverty, and they simply don't trust the government to do the job for them.

But these days, some people who call themselves conservatives I think are just people trying to fit in a counter culture that wants to look tough by being pretty much anti-socials who don't give a shit about anything

Quite a few. I've met more conservatives who could hold down a logical and intelligent conversation than liberals. Liberals tend to use their emotions as justification for their decisions a lot more.

As a side note, a lot of the people I've known who had drug problems in their lives were liberals.

But it's unlikely to meet someone that firmly actually has firmly conservative beliefs, unless they are a politician or really into politics

most Americans are moderate/centrist

which, btw, doesn't mean the same thing people mean when they say someone is taking a "centrist" view (these days anyway)

If youre a law abiding citizen who contributes to the economy and your community in a positive way...everything else is highly subjective and honestly entirely beside the point unless they themselves are making laws. i don't think you actually believe this (i'm fairly certain you couldn't even give me a good definition for institutionalized racism if you tried)
instead i think you're actually a pathetic enough person to post these things just to arouse some kind of reaction

in any case, no one side is wholly responsible for institutionalized racism
but definitely it's more conservative policies that help it continue to persist (decreasing school funding for inner cities, removing skills and arts programs, hiking up punishments for light drug charges, etc)

not that well-intentioned, but misguided liberal policies help either

Institutionalized racism is the government endorsing and promoting racism, in the form of affirmative action, reparations, etc. When the president endorses a group that runs around screaming "fuck white people" and assaulting whites for entertainment, you have institutionalized racism.

Compare and contrast the left and their racism to Donald Trump after the clash in Charlottesville-

"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence, on many sides. On many sides. It's been going on for a long time in our country. Not Donald Trump, not Barack Obama. This has been going on for a long, long time."

He said that racial hate isn't acceptable from any side against any other side. You know, treating people equally and condemning condemnable actions equally?

Obama supported black supremacists. Trump condemned white supremacists. Trying to play the "Well, both sides do it...." card isn't working here.
