I didn't know the Han Solo movie was coming out so soon until I went to see The Last Jedi and saw the teaser poster in the lobby say May 2018. I thought it was another year out.

They released Guardians 2 and Pirates 5 on the same weekends this year.

The biggest movie months are late spring/early summer and november/december.
February is when they release all the romcoms because all the girls are like "you wanna see this with meeeeee?" and guys know they have to go. Halloween is when they release all the horror flicks. Point is, by capitalizing on summer and winter, you create an environment where companies now have to bet whether or not the movie they have is going to draw out more fans than what Disney has and people usually lose that bet when they make it (though not always. Disney has had many flops over the years). It's what killed Rise of the Tomb Raider (released same day as Fallout 4). --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
