Earlier in the year I heard that Disney was pulling its content from Netflix and I never got around to watching anything. Can anybody recommend anything before it's gone? And does anybody know if it includes the MCU?

Watched Moana last night, which I enjoyed although the story had a lot of weird issues and one of the big twists was visible from a mile away.

Is Tangled on there? I liked that one.

And MCU is gone too, same with SW. The only stuff thatll stay will be ones Netflix made themselves.

Saw it already and yeah, I enjoyed it.

Damnit, hadn't even thought about the X-Files but I might have more time on that. So I've got to watch at least a few MCU films.

Finished the Jungle Book, which was pretty fantastic -- better than I thought it'd be. Was looking at the VAs during the credits and was pretty surprised. The whole movie I thought Baloo sounded like Garfield (aka Lorenzo Music, who also played Venkman -- Bill Murray's role -- in the Real Ghostbusters) and was surprised to learn it was Bill Murray himself.

I had known Scarjo va'd Kaa (great scene, although short), but Idris Elba was Shere Khan, Ben Kingsley voiced Bagheera (thought he sounded familiar), and Christopher Walken was King Louie.

Might watch the LA adaptation of Beauty & the Beast or the Pete's Dragon remake. Kinda tough choice.

I think they might still have it? Haven't seen the movie in ages, although I *think* I had it on VHS (probably still do somewhere). Might watch it if I run through the rest. Also notice the direct-to-dvd sequel is there.

TDIL: There's an actual penis bone >_>

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baculum

Was reading the Jungle Book's wikipedia entry (to confirm something about the ending regarding Shere Khan's fate) and noticed that Baloo was referred to as a sloth bear. So naturally I click on the link to find out what exactly is a sloth bear and find that it's endangered because people hunt it for its claws and bacula. Never heard of the word bacula so I click on it and learn that it puts the bone in boner. Apparently humans lack it due to some weird evolutionary thing. Science!

(Note: Bacula. Not to be confused with Bakula, the guy who starred in Quantum Leap.)

The twist, so to speak, was that Te Ka was actually Te Fiti, driven mad by the loss of her heart. For whatever reason all of the characters just thought Te Ka was a separate entity (which doesn't make much sense) and Moana only realized what happened when she noticed the spot where Te Fiti lay was now empty.

Watched Pete's Dragon tonight and now I'm depressed I can't have a pet dragon. Granted, I've got a long-ish drive ahead of me tomorrow to relatives and I'm not getting much sleep now =x

I also realize that the Disney removal is probably the only reason why I'm getting around to watching these >_> Otherwise I might have put them off indefinitely.

Another great film. I can barely remember the original, which I might have seen once. While checking out the wikipedia page for the original and then the remake, I noticed that the forest ranger is played by Bryce Dallas Howard -- Ron Howard's daughter -- and the girl in the film was one of the girls who played Matilda on the Broadway production of Matilda (which explains why she can act). Oh, and the old man was played by Robert Redford.

Netflix owns those so I have time. I've seen Daredevil (fantastic) and Jessica Jones so I'm okay there as well. Luke Cage (who was alright on Jess Jones) I keep meaning to watch and I might even catch Iron Fist at some point.

I wish I could buy a Komodo Dragon, but I'm like 90% sure I'd need some special handlers license. Same reason why I don't own a crocodile. (Also because owning a crocodile would be a little crazy, at least in NE.)

Sea dragons are nice, but I haven't really felt like learning how to manage a saltwater aquarium. I had a freshwater when I was younger.

Started the LA version of Beauty and the Beast. Although the intro was pretty neat (granted, the over-inclusive diversity was a *little* weird for something supposedly depicting France), the moment I saw Emma Watson as Belle was jarring. What weird casting. Also not feeling her singing voice so far. Honestly, it might have made more sense to get one of the actresses from the Broadway musical.

That said, the choreography has been superb.

XD @ the lines in this. The caricatures are more cartoony than the actual cartoon.

All in all, the LA Beauty and the Beast wasn't quite the trainwreck I had assumed it'd be. The movie excelled in terms of visuals and presentation, but kinda fell flat when it came to content. (Plus *most* of the casting kinda sucked.) I liked the new version of "Be My Guest" far more than the old one, partly for the effects. Also really enjoyed "Something There" which was a song I barely remembered from the original.

Conversely, "Gaston" -- my favorite song from the original and possibly my favorite from the Broadway musical -- was awful and was visually uninteresting. "Belle" also fell a little flat, but the choreography, etc, was great.

Then there was the silly amount of over-diversity and the dodgy decision to change LeFou's bromance with Gaston into an actual attraction -- which is a lazy way to handle the character and demeans male friendships in general. More importantly, it's not even written well because the character is *constantly* signaling it right from the get-go.

On the plus side, I guess things *aren't* as urgent as I was previously led to believe -- which is good news since I realized that the entire Star Wars: Clone Wars show will go as well -- because USA Today noted the following:
Disney's current agreement with Netflix means you'll still see new Disney films and shows appear on Netflix until 2019. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, a blockbuster released by Disney-owned Marvel Studios in May, was just added to Netflix this month.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/talkingtech/2017/12/27/disney-remove-fox-content-netflix-hbo-its-likely-matter-time/952177001/

I'm still going to make more of an effort to run through everything, though. I kinda want to get back in the habit of watching films and shows on a more frequent basis instead of putting stuff off.
