I think "the leftovers" is criminally underrated (only because so few know it, the ones who have seen it tend to rave).

Great reviews from critics and one of the darkest and grittiest shows I've seen while still wrapping the series up with an uplifting note.

Only read the first page so didn't see this. Completely agree though I love season 1 (even though it's not nearly as strong nor loved as the other two).

Nothing recent comes to mind. I really enjoyed Dinosaurs back in the day, but the politics were a little too preachy at times. I liked SVU up until season 12. After that, it was all downhill. I'm also one of the few people who will defend Star Trek Voyager. Everybody else seems to hate the writing with a passion. (and I suppose that's understandable since the series' writing changed hands so many times)

I have a tough time with this question because I don't know what is and isn't popular. I already typically watch things that people I know don't watch, but that's a pretty small sample size.

Regardless, here is my submission.

The Last Kingdom

I think the show Hannibal would apply. It's a beautifully shot show and Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal is amazing. It never should have been on NBC in the first place. It's the kind of show that would have been much better off on one of the premium channels or one of the streaming services. I'm surprised it got to 3 seasons before being canceled. The good news is it looks like it's being revived to cover the The Silence of the Lamb story. Hope it comes to fruition.

Oh, I forgot all about River. It's an amazing series about a cop who sees dead people and is trying to solve the mystery of who killed his partner. It isn't a supernatural show, btw, he's just insane and hallucinating dead people.

The saddest happy ending I've ever seen in a show.

Yeah Hannibal was pretty top notch, I loved all of it.

Agents if Shield. It struggles to bring in viewers and most gave up middle of season 1, including myself, but my friend told me to try it again when it came on Netflix. I ended up watching all 4 seasons in about 2 weeks. It's definitely got that buffy/angel type of humor and they stray away from monster of the week after Season 1.

Dinosaurs really wasn't that popular. It got canned four seasons in. (Three-and-a-half if you want to be technical, as the first season was cleared for only ten episodes)

I'll give you SVU, though. It just seems the series became far too mainstream with the 13th season.

Person of Interest (though I don't know maybe this one was really popular when it was on TV but I think most people probably didn't appreciate the deeper story there).

I don't know how popular this is or isn't, but I don't see a lot of people mention The Good Place.

The premise of the show is that the main character is dead and she's gone to heaven. The only issue is that they've mixed her up with someone with the same name and she was supposed to go to hell.

It was a show on...I think CBS last year. Ran for one season that perfectly wrapped things up in case they didn't get renewed but also left things open.

It was really funny, well written, and well acted.
