Up to $100k

I think that is really great considering the Salvation Army has a good track record of making even small amounts of money go a long way

Oh boy here comes the shitstorm.

Just kidding, people won't go after something they use, just tiny mom and pop stores they'll never ever visit, all in the name social justice.

That cap is important. It's the difference between a company worried about PR and a fucking stupid college student making an uncapped pledge. Granted $100k is a pittance for a company like that.

Oh hey, it's actually showing up somewhere other than Fox News!

... Though it doesn't look any less flagrantly biased. I still haven't been given much reason to believe the "attack" was anything more than a couple disgruntled idiots on Twitter, given how overdramatized every retelling of the story has been.

Theyre volunteers and they stand there for two hours

People acting like this organization is a bunch of villains when pretty much all they do is help poor people have food and other things they need. Theyre fundamentally a religious group but do you really think they turn away gay people or refuse to help them? I have a difficult time imagining that.

No, i do not think most of them are volunteers, i think most of them are paid, but pretty sure they do it for more than 2 hrs. And you have a hard time believing the salv. army has great animosity towards gays and would do that stuff?

Yeah, I do, and nobody in this topic has provided anything to make me think otherwise

They may not support homosexuality, which I dont agree with them on, but I really doubt they have a policy of turning anyone away. It would literally conflict with their mission statement.

They literally have a well documented history of both working against, and refusing to do things if theyre required to treat gays as equals:

https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/4422938

Now, they have been mum on it for awhile, but being a religious organization with a history, with new stories still surfacing occasionally... its not that hard to beleive theyre still against people they dont beleive should be alive due to their scripture.

There has been appropriate backlash to those incidents and it seems like they are turning things around. Honestly it seems like most of the incidents are caused by bad representatives actually not following SA policies.

They help 30 million poor people a year get food and shelter. The idea that some people want to vilify the entire organization or wont even consider making a dumb tweet to get an extra buck towards poor people is really sad to me.

Yes. They put that up after they started losing donations for having a history of discrimination.

Does it mean they actually adhere to it? Maybe. If you want to donate to them, then by all means. But dont stand there and act like theyve never actively been discriminatory.

How many organizations havent made mistakes along the way? The way I see it the money ends up in a good place.

If there are better charities then hopefully those can grow and gain more attention, but for now I doubt any of them have the local infrastructure that SA has to help people.
