This is exactly it. Liberals constantly struggle with cognitive dissonance due to thinking they're intellectually superior but then not having any money or accomplishments to substantiate that. Thus, instead of looking in the mirror, the excuses are always some oppression narrative or claim that people are who are successful got there through selfishness/nepotism/exploitation.

it's not about hating them at all. it's about asking them to pay a higher % of income in taxes because shifting that tax burden down to the lower classes would financially cripple them.

They've been brainwashed by socialist dogma. They're perfectly comfortable with somehow being able to decide that that person "has enough" or that they have "too much". And they should have to pay more simply because they have more. They have the most anti-freedom and anti-America attitudes, and these attitudes have been engrained in them for so long that they never stop to think about it anymore.

some of my very far left friends are like this. they feel unfulfilled professionally/financially/whatever so they attach themselves to the lowest status people in the country so they can feel like their misfortunes are different degrees of the same thing experienced by all downtrodden people. all poor people are truckin' and giving 100%, and all rich people are liars manipulating the poor

That's like saying that a person isn't racist because they like Michael Jordan and Samuel L. Jackson. A lot of liberals hate rich people in general, but they make exceptions for actual individuals.

I don't hate rich people, I still hope to be rich myself one day though I will probably just end up upper middle/lower upper class. I support taxing high income earners, including myself, because they (we) are the people with enough money that it can be taxed without harming them (us). Makes sense to me that the people that benefit the most from a given set of rules should be the ones that pay the most to support the continued existence of those set of rules.

I think the real question is why do republicans hate minors and people not even born yet? They are the ones that will be burdened by the debt we are taking on to give tax breaks to the rich.
