But big game trophy hunters pay big money to hunt those trophies, and that money is then used for the conservation of the endangered species, at least that's what the internet says.

Some meat does come from that. That's the kind of meat I don't eat. The one grown in the ground is what I do eat.

Plenty of things grow in the ground. In fact, we got a little garden set up and plan to grow tomatoes and stuff in the summer. Haven't tried to grow meat yet, but I know it's possible

I was sort of alluding to usable haul from a dressed deer.

Sheep and cattle, you get like 80% of the weight as usable meat. With deer, 40% of that weight is usable.

I grew up in the sticks. Never was my thing but its cool and deer meat is yummy. Be safe and try not to go above and beyond what youre comfortable with.

Don't worry, there's a local butcher shop I know that'll break down the animal.

I've been doing some light research and it isn't unreasonable to walk away with only around 20 lbs of meat.
