Seems like a neat life experience and there'd be something spiritual about hunting your own meat, even if you fail.

I used to do it seasonally and supplement deer meat in place of ground beef for certain meals as well as making jerky in my dehydrator, it's a good time.

Maybe if you live in a third-world country where more sanitary food options aren't readily accessible. If you're in a first-world country, then it seems both unnecessary and cruel.

What have animals ever done to you, TC?

How is it more cruel than eating farmed meat? Are you even aware of the conditions those animals live in?

Sure, hunting a deer sucks for that deer the day that they die. But up until then, they get to live free and unbridled.

Hunting yourself and eating it is far less cruel than whatever happened to the animals the average person is getting with their value meat from Walmart. And if you're just hunting it and taking it to a butcher then the chance of there being anything unsanitary happen is slim to none unless there's human error that's beyond just an "oops" you'd have to have no idea what you're doing and do something stupid.

Probably, if you're downwind of the deer.
But then, you'd just be high, and up a tree, with a high powered rifle or slug-loaded shotgun. That's not a great combination.

It is not foolish. It can be a very rewarding experience. You get to spend time in the outdoors, breathe fresh air and learn how to track. Of course, you also have to make a conscious effort to actually aim at, shoot and kill your prey. This is obviously different from the effort it takes to order a Bic Mac value meal.

Ha! And where the hell do you think the meat at the supermarket come from, pal?

Anyways, I'm fine with hunting as long as you respect the laws about it and as long as you intent to either eat the meat or give it to someone who will eat it. Personally, I don't like to hunt, but I love wild game meat and I'm more than happy when someone in my family go hunting and give me some of what they got. I especially love deer, moose, caribou (or reindeer, it's the same thing), rabbit, grouse and partridge.

Hiking, sweating, crouching in uncomfortable positions, meh, and if you do get a kill you got to go all metal gear solid/far cry/lara croft on it to harvest the edible meat and then hike all the way back with a few dozen extra pounds. Rather just go to the range and then go camping.

A lot of areas in the US at least have a deer overpopulation problem. They could use more hunters, not fewer.

Yeah, because games always perfectly reflect reality... Flash news, it's not like that in reality. In the real world, animals are raised on a farm and then send to a butcher to be killed and cut into meat pieces and then send to supermarkets. It doesn't grow on trees or in the ground.

I don't even know why I bothered writing that, you're obviously a troll.
