What if the meaning of life is to get older? What if Earth is like a factory where we "work" to accumulate life points that are like cash in afterlife?

That's religion if by work you mean worship.

the condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death.

pretty much how I see life. some others even with the thought process of no life after death, have the impression its important to leave your mark on the world in some way so you are remembered long after. or at least leave a mark in the sense they did something to improve things for the future.

Life has no inherent meaning, so its up to you to decide what the meaning of your life is.

Life has an inherent meaning but we haven't found it yet. If there was no meaning we wouldn't exist.

The meaning of life is perspective and experience.

If all you do is consume one perspective--becoming one with it like some hiveminded Borg--and sit around doing nothing more with your life than either creeping women out or asking asinine questions at best that the majority of people don't even want to hear or read on their most philosophical days, then you're not growing in life. In fact, I'd go to say you're not fulfilling what it means to live, and should probably go do something about that posthaste.

Which is worse, believing in a thing for the promise of a reward, or believing in something out of fear for punishment, neither of which, by the way, being proven as possible or likely?

Life on this planet sucks. That is why humans created video games, which simply would not be needed if life didn't suck.

If not for video games, life would suck a whole lot more.

Eternal life is the point, and a world without fear and sin. Paradise, that's what us believers want. Sinners love this world because they exploit it, and the good at heart suffer when they see all the evil around them. We cannot kill the sinner, bloodshed only leads to more blood and peace would never be achieved. That's who so many Christians choose martyrdom. The meaning of life is to become enlightened, which can only be done if God smiles upon you. Once you're enlightened, you will see that eternal life is what you desire.

If life the craving for which is the very essence of our being were possessed of any positive intrinsic value, there would be no such thing as boredom at all: mere existence would satisfy us in itself, and we should want for nothing.
