I recall from Batman TAS and the Justice League and Superman cartoons (all of which were amazing) tons of jokes.

Remember the time Batman laughed at the Joker's joke and the Joker was like "that isn't supposed to happen!"

Remember when WW talked to Bruce about dating? Remember when WW was like "what is wrong with my outfit?"?

These series had tons of light-hearted comedy and it worked really well.

Because humor in any form is quippy Marvel saccharine Disney crap.

Jokes in movies isn't a bad thing. Jokes used to interrupt serious moments or as a punctuation mark to every scene, however, is lazy writing.

EDIT: Example, why was batman laughing at the joker a good scene? Because it was RARE

it's not just jokes, but jokes consistently throughout that makes the movie feel like a comedy.

...if we're talking about the MCU, at least.

They weren't constant, either, and WHO made the jokes mattered.

Batman had some zingers

https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Batman:_The_Animated_Series

Batman: So you can talk.
Tygrus: My father taught me.
Batman: Your father was a test tube.

Talia: My contact lenses! I lost them when we fell! They counter the distortion effect. Without them, I'm as helpless as you.
Batman: I don't do helpless.

Yoru: If you see Batman, tell him I have great respect for him.
Bruce: Why? He's as much a ninja as Kyodai was.
Yoru: Not so. Batman offered to help his adversary, and a lesser man would have used the secrets of the Onemuri touch against his opponent. Batman is the essence of samurai, Wayne-san. You would do well to remember that.
Bruce: [bows] Domo arigato, sensei.
