single player only. I don't cheat in most video games anymore grand theft auto is the only series I can think of I still cheat on the norm (but I literally play that game for the mindless fun of it) but as long as you aren't hindering anyone else I don't give a rat's ass how someone enjoys their game.

I can understand people wanting to generate mostly perfect IV/nature/ability pokemon to round out their teams, since the games have no rental system that lets you do this... but it's kinda the same as just printing out your own YuGiOh/Magic the Gathering cards. They're perfectly game legal, but you removed the rarity balance.

you talking about that glitch to get 99 of any items back in red/blue? only downside IIRC is that you don't get nearly the amount of stat increases as you would threw leveling up normally. still though not much could stop my team of 6 max level mewtwos.

I only ever played the original Red & Blue, but fuck Nintendo if they thought everyone was going to buy two games or whatever and play through the full game twice to get all the pokemon exclusive to Red or Blue all onto the same save file.
My friends and I used the glitch to copy traded pokemon instead of actually trading them, and I'm proud of it!
I think that was actually the first hack/glitch/exploit I've even used, and it's not something I do often. But yeah...nah. Not happening.

Anything goes. If someone is able to cheat in a game, then everyone else can. If the developers don't like it, then they just need to patch those exploits so that no one can use them.

well nintendo actually thought correctly loads of people do buy both. as a kid I got lucky had a brother who also played the games. so it made good christmas presents he'd get one i'd get the other. we only played up to gold/silver though. funny come to think of it, it was slightly unfair I ended up getting both yellow and crystal (that was the third game in the gold/silver right?) and he didn't. but I was nice enough to let him play through it after I did.

I would have more of a problem with it if getting competitively viable pokemon wasn't such a huge chore, constantly resetting for legendaries, ev training, iv breeding, move breeding and all that shit, if you spend forever making a team and it doesn't work out or you want to make another one its another week of grind and tedium, even if you want to reuse some of the pokes the evs are prolly different. just to be on even playing field with other players is just waaaay too much, its like the only "competitive" video game where you have to bring your own shit as opposed to everyone being on an even enough level at the start of every match

without cheating or simulators like pokemon showdown I figure a lot of cool teams and ideas we have today would just go undiscovered due to the amount of effort required to try something new for it not to always work out.

The only cheat I'd consider using would be to change my starter, especially since the starters for gens 2, 4, 5, and 6 kinda suck.

...no, they assumed that half would get one game, half the other, and then trade for what each other needed. It worked out fine gen 1.

I use PKHexing because who the fuck has time to sit around, hatching eggs to get a perfect IV, egg moves, and Nature, then EV train, and raise them up to level 50? And then you play a handful of games and get destroyed online, bringing you back to square one. And don't even get me started on legendary pokemon.

I use it as a time saver, and I don't see why anyone would have a problem with that.

I remember a glitch in red and blue where I could get a level 255 pokemon. but it was worthless to me as it was only use able for one battle or multiplayer battles as any exp it gained made it loop over and become level 1. though I guess it would be cool to have a level one evolved pokemon. I believe which one you got was based on poke ID and character name or something like that. I always got a rapidash and my brother I think got dewgong.

As long as it's within the normal limits. Raising a Pokemon does not take skill. Only time. It's boring, tedious, and repetitive. I have a full time job. I don't have time for that shit.
They really need to revamp the series but people buy the same shit every year en masse with its marginal changes.
Idk why I'm even here I don't play them anymore. Just disappointed with how they let it stagnate.

In the older ones, only to help catch them all. In newer ones, I'd consider something similar just to speed up the time it'd take to get a team or three together (if I still played).

They've revamped it a lot in the last 2 gens. You can EV/IV a lot easier but in exchange they've made grinding to 100 about as awkward as gen 2.

funny most nintendo games i've played based with multiplayer in mind seem to have luck as a big aspect. mario kart being a major offender. never played mario party but I understand that one too. and even smash to a degree if you play with items on.

though in pokemon the rarity thing I think is better for the single player. perhaps they should make the rarity for a lot mons significantly drop after you beat the SP portion.
