75% of conservatives also want net neutrality. Basically the only people against it are morons and old people who dont understand it. Unfortunately, most politicians are on the older side.

I remember trying to watch one of the congressional debates about SOPA. Almost all of them started their speeches with something along the line of:

1) I'm no computer guru, but...
2) I'm no computer geek, but...
3) I'm not a techie, but...

I got frustrated. I was like "Then shut the f*** up and have someone who knows what they're talking about speak on the issue and you just listen."

And again, net neutrality guidelines have been a thing for much longer than two years. What happened two years ago was the US government requiring it instead of just expecting the ISPs to follow the net neutrality guidelines.

Actually not true. Conservatives are against economic regulation but are for social regulation which is the reverse of liberals who are for economic regulation but against social regulation. Libertarians are against both and populists are for both.

IIRC having 2 major ISPs in a given area is more common than 1, but they typically divvy up individual neighborhoods so you're "forced" to use one or the other, or go with a much slower local DSL provider

I had no problems with the internet whatsoever prior to 2015.

Because instead of regulations in place to stop telecom companies from throttling phone and internet service, we were suing them in civil court instead.

In NYC, the major ISPs carve up neighborhoods so that you only get 1 or 2 choices. The cost to break new ground and install new wires and infrastructure is prohibitively high in a city where everything is 200 years old and hundreds of thousands of residents can get inconvenienced by it.

Okay. If you count things like satellite internet and dial-up, there are multiple ISPs. If you dont, then you typically have at most your areas cable provider and your phone company. Often, the internet offered by the phone company is significantly worse that that offered by the cable company.

Your objection to NN going away, according to that image, is that it would allow ISPs to censor websites they don't like.

Why then aren't you in favor of a law to force other companies from censoring people?

You realize that you don't have free speech on private websites right? A website censoring people on it's own private website is perfectly legal as you normally have to agree to the Terms of Use of that particular website to post there. And in most Terms of Use, there's provisions which are akin to "we can do what we want it's our website."

The internet didn't "stay the same" before the 2015 regulations were in place. Again, net neutrality was always a thing. Certain ISPs decided to violate the guidelines of net neutrality, which is what prompted the government to put the regulations in place.

The changes from yesterday's vote haven't even gone into effect yet. And people have a low trust level for certain ISPs because of the stuff they did before 2015 that prompted the regulations. This isn't a hard concept.
