Everyone predicted that the release of the mega beast XBOX One X and the comeback kid Switch would outsell the 4 year old PS4 which had no new console release and no real price drop on the Pro...but they were wrong as the console remains to be a consumer favourite on Black Friday as it easily outsold both consoles!!.

The count suggests that PS4 sold 1.58 Million Consoles in November while XBOX One X and XBOX One sold 1.37 Million consoles and Switch sold 770K-800K.

Not remotely surprising since Microsoft hates its consumers and Nintendo isn't even aware it has consumers, money isn't a thing to them.

console and handheld emulation doesn't count on PC, because they were never native to PC.

so PC has the same emulation as the xbox one, in that pretty much all PC games will still work on PC, provided you have the hardware to access some of it.

Who said anything about emulation? Don't have to emulate anything. All you have to do is turn on an old game, once you get past the mid-90's or so and you don't run into stuff that's incompatible with more modern operating systems (and even then, you can usually get stuff working with some fiddling).

I'm not even sure what you're trying to say. It's true that you can play any Xbone game on an Xbone, much like you can play any PC game on a PC, but that's a pretty meaningless statement in a discussion of backwards compatibility. It's not at all true that you can play prior generations of Xbox games on the Xbone without restrictions, while it is true that you can play prior generations of PC games without restrictions (until you get really far back, at which point you can still make it work, unlike with consoles).

You know, if your current console actually had games to play, you wouldn't be so concerned with backwards compatibility.

Although I think at this point, whatever the PS5 is would need to play PS4 games as well and carry over PSN purchases.

Sony could pull a huge win by releasing a PS1/2/3/4/P/V all-in-one console sometime next year.

Nobody cares. Play whatever console you want. I got the Xbone first since that's what all my friends have, which is far more important to me than playing by myself on PlayStation. I got the PS4 slim used for cheap for Persona 5 and haven't really touched it since.
Then I got a beast PC and haven't played much console at all.

New consoles from Microsoft and Nintendo you mean? Not shocked as the PS4 has a bigger game library and costs a lot less then the Xbox One X and Switch. Looking at the price of the Xbox One X I could buy a PS4 and a Switch for around that price. I mean it costs 450 over here. Where as the switch and PS4 are 300 and 200 with games respectively.

It's funny how Sony and MS always try and claim the title of "most powerful console" when I don't think the most powerful console's EVER won its generation (maybe SNES? Not sure how it compared to Sega's), and in several cases the weakest console has won.
PS4 is cheap and has the best library, the two most important factors. No shock it's dominating.
I did think Switch would outsell it this year though, since it's new and has that bs "new gimmick!" hype that Wii did.
Kind of annoys me that GC and Wii U are such better consoles yet Wii and Switch are the big sellers, really.
