I don't feel like it'll be too hard to add the X-men when the villain for the next Avengers movie has a glove that can rewrite reality.

Eh to me part of the X-Men story is their status as known outcasts that people fear and st. You can't do that so easily in the current MCU because they have to be...known. It damages the property to say "they were there all along and didn't mention them"

To me it's either parallel universes or you completely reset them and you actually show the origin of the mutation.

That's not really what I'm saying. I'm saying the floodgates burst open because Nick Fury was being Nick Fury and trying to keep secrets. Then, suddenly, it's like the sexual harassment allegations - it just all starts pouring out. Except here, it's a matter of world security, and you get a big panic and an immediate fear from individuals with powers. For me, there's a sudden new layer to these superheroes and mutants. Do you distance yourself from mutantkind? Are you a mutant yourself? You have heroes questioning their own identities and the world questioning their heroes.

I mean, I think there are some great stories to be told in that realm. It turns Nick Fury into a grey area character (of which there are pretty much none), and it sets you on a collision course between Avengers and X-Men eventually where no side is wrong.

that would be pretty great if they just edit in a scene to the already finished Infinity War with Thanos saying "I am now using my cool glove to make the Earth just like the Earth you know but with mutants now!"

Runaways was already under Disney's umbrella, so it shouldn't be affected at all.

could be bad for The Gifted, I guess, especially since it's on the Fox network which Disney did not get.

Wouldn't this be good for gifted? Or does the network lose X-Men rights

Couldn't they just create the mutants as a kind of sub"species" of the inhumans? Ruth Negga's character was already pretty mutated in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I don't really know the specifics of what constitutes mutantkind and if it is super important to the whole X-Men story, but the inhumans already kind of filled that role in S.H.I.E.L.D. (and Civil War for that matter, where I think they were implicitly referenced as one of the peoples that needed to be "tied down").

Also, specifying inhumans without capital lettering to differentiate them from the royal Inhumans.

Hasn't Fox already fucked it up enough. Apocalypse was awful. The casting in the newer films is bad. Jennifer Lawrence is a horrible Mystique and they continue to try and focus on her.

Logan was good. I liked the original trilogy for the most part. Deadpool was fun for being different. The Wolverine was alright.

But, Apocalypse and First Class was wackkk.

lol, first class is one of your examples of fox being bad at making x-men movies? it's my second favorite x-men movie (days of future past is #1, obviously).

agree that they were doing awful with the franchise and it's probably better to reboot it at this point, though.

Yeah. First Class was butt. Days Of Future Past is awesome mostly for the future scenes.

You know, if Disney has a controlling interest in Hulu and they were to buy an ISP, that would be bad news for Netflix.

The casting is too bad and the middle team building crap is hella bad.

Jennifer Lawrence kills most of First Class, a lot of Apocalypse, and some of Days of Future Past.

Like, it is weird because she is an amazing actress in Passengers, Silver linings PLaybook, and American Hustle. But, Terri Terri Terri bad in X-Men. Bad bad bad casting for mystique.

I'm a big fan of First Class. Really slick, good bad guy, Nazi-hunting Fassbender Magneto being great, McAvoy was good, and I liked how it integrated with cold war stuff. One of my favourite X-Men movies. DoFP was also good. Logan was obviously great.

Looking at it, there's been 6 X-Men movies this decade counting Deadpool and I've liked 4 of them, 1 of them was just OK (Logan), and 1 of them, Apocalypse, was not that good (though it worked in patches).

I don't see a problem with how they've handled the franchise tbh

i didn't hate apocalypse as much as a lot of other people but it wasn't good, and i feel like letting simon kinberg direct dark phoenix (who hasn't directed anything before) seems like a huge gamble. yeah, they got rid of bryan singer (probably for obvious reasons) but they should have gotten a director who we know is good, not a dude who hasn't done anything. also, i dislike how super big and important mystique has become (especially since jennifer lawrence sucks in the role - i'll agree on that with corrik).

also, i don't like how magneto is going to be in it AGAIN. they did a wonderful job with the professor x/magneto dynamic in first class, but it became stale in apocalypse. i really don't need to see more "there's still GOOD in you, erik!" shit, but i'm afraid they're going to shoehorn it in yet again.
