They are letting marvel borrow Spiderman in their movies for just a couple movies to try and jump start interest in Spiderman and in return for them helping them make better Spiderman movies.

Already talks about how Sony plans to take Spiderman out of mcu after 2 or 3 films and bring venom and such into his universe completely.

That's weird, because the further we get away from the oversaturated characters with lame powers and personalities, the closer we get to teams like Peter David's X-Factor or Alan Davis' Excalibur, where all the cool kids hang out.

Disney canned nothing. Kathleen Kennedy runs the Star Wars universe with an iron grip and, as Lucas' right hand woman, when she took the reins, she instituted policies she had wanted for a while. Disney;s purchase only led to inevitable changes.

Right, because under the Disney banner, no one is expanding the Marvel universes with also-rans.

For the record, X-Men secondary titles in the 90s outsold every Ant-Man comic ever and every Doctor Strange run ever.

DISNEY canned nothing. This is what you're not getting. The only thing Disney actually pushed for is more product. Oh, and they canned Dark Horse comics so Marvel would be in-house on the production of their comics. That's it. Kathleen Kennedy was planning to kill the larger universe as soon as she took over as it was pretty much a prerequisite for any director who started work on a new trilogy. That would have happened at Paramount or Universal or wherever.

https://www.theverge.com/2014/9/28/6854985/incomplete-episodes-from-canceled-star-wars-the-clone-wars-animated

I mean, you are wrong, and you are arguing your position with a very matter of fact asshole attitude.

"Star Wars fans were none-too-pleased when animated cable TV show The Clone Wars was unceremoniously cancelled last year following Disney's purchase of LucasFilm. The show was in the middle of production on its sixth season when Disney pulled the plug, and fans were left with lots of open storylines. "

"After months of fan excitement and upbeat rumors following Disneys acquisition of Lucasfilm, it appears that the other shoe has started to drop. In an announcement on the official Star Wars site Monday optimistically entitled A New Direction for Lucasfilm Animation, the company announced the cancellation of its successful Star Wars: The Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network and indefinite postponement of Star Wars: Detours, a second animated series created by the team behind Adult Swims Robot Chicken."

Oh, please don't show me Graeme McMillan articles. That guy is terrible

And, let's not forget, they cancelled Clone Wars to launch Rebels. Which is the same production company, with the same workers. Since the "cancellation", that was a decision made in-house to make a shift earlier since they wanted to push Rebels on their own networks.

Detours, yeah, that's a cancellation. But it's not even in-house, so who cares? Let's also not forget that TV doesn't matter - viewership for Star Wars shows is piss-poor. Disney isn't going to can New Mutants is the point that matters here. They are looking to make this thing called money. Clone Wars wasn't really doing that because it was a television show.

I think they can too. It just means it's all probably delayed because Disney's highest priority (unless New Mutants does gangbusters) will be to reincorporate the big boring guns back into the MCU.

You were wrong. I knew you were wrong from the start. I knew you thought I was talking about the EU when I was talking about Clone Wars from the start. But, yeah, that is how you were acting.

You don't have to say you were wrong. Regarding it, but what I am pointing out is that Disney will cancel anything they feel isn't up to their par, in the direction they want, or as they see fit.

Hell Clone Wars was an emmy-winning cartoon oddly enough as that sounds lol.

Will they? Maybe not in that scenario. Could they? Yes.

Well, since you refuse to acknowledge that I was just having a fun conversation and you need to be extremely serious for you, I really don't know what to say, but this is the kind of attitude that exists in the world that results in fans of anything becoming embittered and awful. Could they? What kind of question is this? They could recast every single character with three-year-olds. They could do so many things that are reasonable or unreasonable. This concept that "Oh Disney canned the final season of a marginally low-rated cartoon on a network Disney doesn't own because they were already in pre-production on another cartoon Disney could run it on their own network so therefore they'll cancel New Mutants" is a pretty big leap in logic, and it spins things so negatively.

Is Disney going to cancel the Avatar sequels? Probably not. They make money. Is Disney going to cancel a virtually finished X-film? Probably not. It's a chance for them to test balloon a concept that can be passed off as "Not our problem. Not under our banner." But if it makes money, they'll be sure as shit making more. Again, there's a difference between something 15 million people watch (predictive attendance for a New Mutants film) and something less than 1.5 million people watch (Clone Wars).

there's no reason to cancel any of the X-Men stuff that is already being worked on. It's going to be at least a couple years before the characters could be integrated into the MCU anyway.

this may not be good for the Gambit movie though since they haven't even started filming
