As some people already know, I'm not a fan of the series, only bothering to finish a few of the older games, though I found some of the spinoffs to be decent (most of the Wario stuff and Luigi's Mansion 2). Since I decided to boost my Wii library and wanted to get some games suitable for the younger ones, I even ordered Wii Sports and this Mario game.

Previously, my only experience with Mario in 3D was 64 (through the original system, Wii VC and DS). Movement felt stiff and camera was not as good as I'd like. I'll admit it was likely better than some other 3D platformers at the time, but since I skipped that generation for the most part (the only stuff I had between my Mega Drive and PS2 was Gameboy systems), I've always compared it to later games such as the Spyro games.

I'm now giving Galaxy a go since I had to check it worked fine before leaving feedback for the seller, and I'm finding the gameplay to be decent. Controls are more responsive, the camera isn't forcing me to try and find a better angle. It is nothing special, and I'd still go replay various PS2 games if I was in a platformer mood, but this one might actually be worth finishing.

Still not getting the rest though. This one was cheap for some reason, but other 3D Mario games I could get for my current systems (Sunshine and Galaxy 2) are much more than I'm willing to spend. :P

I also got Samurai Warriors 3 today, and Trauma Center: Second Opinion a couple of days earlier. My Wii collection might actually be decent again soon.

If they gave mario a gun, would you have been happier? Geez, you're self-centered.

Who are you and why should I care? People here love me (even if I sometimes wonder why).

Also, I made this topic because people are always trying to convince me to believe Mario is a good series. They will be happy. Now if my opinion is asked, I'll say they aren't all terrible.

Galaxy is alright. I had more fun with SM64 despite its shortcomings, but SMG is a pretty good game. Sunshine is kinda shit. Don't waste your money on it (although, if you can get it cheap, whatever). SMG2 is supposedly a lot better than 1, but I have yet to play it (although I own it)

Far too expensive to grab here, people love to over price their first party Nintendo games. These are my options for it.

Yeah, Galaxy was is one of the good ones. I haven't played Galaxy 2 though, so I can't really comment on that.

I know I'm in the minority but I believe that Galaxy is the weakest 3D mario title. For me the game was a bore for a good chunk of the game and only slightly picked up near the end. Also if Galaxy 2 ever becomes an option, I would choose to pick that up because it is more of the same but consistently better level design from start to finish. Unfortunately both games suffer from the waggle gimmick and any levels based around it are pretty bad.
