A lot of people involved in the X-men movies have openly complained about the makeup. She should have listened to her peers.

She's talking about having her whole body painted and the fumes she has to endure. Rebecca Romijn had the same complaints IIRC.

I know she's joking but it's a pet peeve of mine how often "but it's difficult to pronounce" is used as a legitimate argument about something's salubriousness. >_>

There's a certain poetic irony here given that salubriousness is a fairly a difficult word to pronounce

You cant blame her. The industry is notorious for not giving a shit about actors long term health. Remember all that great multicolored smoke in 70s Doctor Who... that they later found out causes cancer.

To be honest t sounds as if she knows what she is talking about. I hear your point, but when was the last time you hear of a non-toxic movie make-up? Consider what has happened in the Wizard of Oz and Goldfinger.

Right but those were movies back when people still thought smoking was good for you and asbestos was a common household insulator. I'd at least hope that modern OSHA culture would prevent you from putting toxic bodypaint on an actor for long periods of time.

Some actors really suffer a lot of health problems for their roles.

I can't even imagine how much Hugh Laurie's health must've declined during House with him being forced to pop a vicodin every 2 scenes.

I'm more upset that they cut out muscle from his leg and glued it back in after every session. That couldn't have been good for him.

The blue makeup that caused her to become ill has been made less toxic, its application time has been reduced from eight hours a day to five, and she's not required to wear special contact lenses.

I can't find the interview, but she talked about how her vomit was blue.

Yes, it is. Landis kept blowing off safety concerns and working regulations until he finally killed someone. Spielberg was even pissed about it before that night. Why Landis wasnt charged with manslaughter is beyond me. But the message is clear, dont depend on Hollywood to care about your well being.

No, they were not killed in explosions, they were chopped up in a helicopter rotor.

Does she even know what chemicals were in the paint? Hollywood specifically uses non toxic, non allergenic and in some cases water based paints that wash off instantly. The whole point is to not get sued these days. Though even so, some people still may have some allergic reactions, at least so far no one has died from body paint in Hollywood at any rate.
