The basics parts of the battle system, which utilize vertical slashes, horizontal slashes, and running to fight, have not changed.

We feel that character creation is an attraction that cannot be removed from the series. We cannot say anymore, but please look forward to it.

I hope all this "one button" stuff is an easy mode you can turn off. Soulcalibur was never really an esports FGC title, but half of the content in that interview boils down to "even a baby can compete with one button" which is a bit disconcerting.

Looks kind of like a system similar to the simple mode from UMvC3. It probably won't be allowed at tournaments but probably will be used in online ranked.

edit: alternatively, they might be trying to copy the one button system from KoFXIV

I guess we'll see. Either way, the important part is that they realize how popular character creation was and are hopefully bringing it back, better than ever.

Once upon a time we had raging demon and it was great and then they nerfed it because despite the input it was too strong and then there was just no fucking point to using it at all as it's extremely difficult to land due to having to factor in the time it takes to actually complete the input.

given as time goes on, more and more "supermoves" just consist of double hadoken with 3 buttons for every character in every game, do away with the formality and just give me a super move button.

Almost everyone from SC1 is guaranteed to show up + some new characters + guest characters.

Not sure if Siegfried will have story relevance as during Soul Calibur 1 he and Nightmare were the same person. If he is part of the story that will be a major retcon. Siggy might be a guest character.
