People didn't like gotg 2 because it had twice as many jokes stuffed into it than the original and 50-60% of those jokes fell flat. Also the soundtrack wasn't as memorable as the first one (I can't remember any songs from it). It felt rushed overall. I agree about the radical Drax shift in character, I don't know if that's more accurate to the comics but it seemed really weird that they made him straight up comic relief instead of more of the "straight man" for lack of a better term like he was in the first movie. In the comics he's pretty much just a brick. A big strong not-Hulk with no real personality. He only wants to kill Thanos. After that I don't know what he wants.
