I tried watching it on Netflix a few days ago and fell asleep.

I liked the 1st one a lot when I saw it the 1st time, but the second time I watched it felt like a drag.

Going into the first, I wasn't at all familiar with any of the characters or the story, so I had no expectations. I just watched it with friends because they gobble up anything Marvel. I had a wonderful time and really liked it.

With that magic gone, the second just seemed like more of the same as far as the humor and the charm. Wasn't bad but I wasn't nearly as into it. I did like the villain but that whole story is something I like in sci-fi, so not really a lot of points there.

It was alright. Probably the worst marvel movie for me in years though. Too much build up for avengers 3 and guardians 3 for me though, didn't leave much room for the movie to stand on its own 2 feet outside of Quill whose arc/ development dragged on too long. And gamora got her own mini story but it just wasn't all that interesting to me, again feeling like the only reason it got ado much time was for a payoff in a future film. Drax was cheap humor, rocket was insufferable, groot was distracting. Yondu was great but thenhe died

I liked it quite a bit, despite the obvious flaws and the forced DBZ fight at the end. Actually had a better soundtrack than the original, which is saying something; when 'Brandy' started playing within the first ten seconds of the movie, I knew I was going to like the whole thing. A couple instances of comedy were painfully forced, but the other jokes / funny moments made up for it.

Im not a big fan of comic book movies/shows in general but I found it entertaining enough. Im sure Ill never watch it again, but I had a good time watching through it once. Thats pretty much exactly how I felt about the first one as well.

I'm surprised so many of you guys didn't like it. Yeah I think the first one was unique, but this was pretty special in its own way. But I found the whole Yondu/Rocket/Groot side plot point the best thing about the movie.

It's strengths were its weaknesses. It just turned the first movie up to 11. More jokes which means more fell flat. Some of the characters were almost caricatures of what they were in the previous movie. The main plot beats and action were great but all the fixings were a bit too much. I don't really know how to feel about it or Thor Ragnarok for the same reasons.

Drax was really the only one who fell victim.

Rocket, Gamora, Yondu and Star Lord all got some development and new subplots or closure on existing ones.

I liked how there wasnt really a central plot. There were a bunch of personal arcs that wove together. They just saved the "biggest " one for the end.

I really like Majoras Mask, I should look for other stories structured like this >_>

This was so good. Pretty amazing that one of the most unabashedly comedy driven MCU films also does drama and emotional impact the best.

I disagree with the Drax sentiment; he had at least a couple flashes of his borderline-goofy berserker persona in GotG 1 (when he's drinking on Knowhere, when Ronan's ships arrive there, and when they breach the Dark Aster). He was just over-burdened with his quest for vengeance; once that was lifted in GotG 2, he naturally went much heavier into goofy-berserker territory. From a more objective standpoint they pushed the Drax-laughing-uproariously schtick a bit too far, but I personally liked it; I'm one of those laughter-is-contagious people.

I also strongly disagree with the notion that 1 had a better soundtrack, but am just too consumed with rage and bile to provide a polite response on that ^^

Terrible.

The main cast were like caricatures of themselves from the first movie.
The soundtrack was great, but had no flow. Felt like they just grabbed hit songs.
Baby Groot was awful.
Yondu stuff was nice, but opposite of what we saw in the first movie and didn't feel earned.
Ridiculous DBZ fight at the end.
Constant in-your-face comedy, but not actually funny comedy. Literally was an Adam Sandler movie in space at some points.
Nebula was cringey and Gamora stuff didn't really pan out.

The whole movie just felt like a parody. Like they took what was good from the first one and just dialed it up like a little kid who finds out you laughed at one knock knock joke and then never stops telling them to you.

The first one is better, but the second is still the best comic book film of 2017.

Lived up to the hype.

Hype was toned down because I knew there was no way they could rival or top 1 but it was damn close.

The opening scene is one of the best "oners" (or the oner) in the history of film IMO (obviously losing to birdman which was insane and a place beyond the pines too because that oner set the whole tone).

I liked it a lot when I first saw it in theaters, but I guess it doesn't hold up on repeat viewings because I didn't care for it much when I re-watched it out Netflix. I agree about the radical Drax shift in character, I don't know if that's more accurate to the comics but it seemed really weird that they made him straight up comic relief instead of more of the "straight man" for lack of a better term like he was in the first movie.

I thought the first ranged from boring to ok, but the 2nd is one of my favorite mcu movies. Does away with the bad of the first while improving all the good. I think its a bigger jump than from cap 1 to 2.
