Can't check at the moment, but it's gotta be over 50%. I have a habit of doing the treasure-seeking portion on day one, then going back to recruit personae and make new ones. (The ability to waylay n00b enemies and instantly kill/recruit is awesome.) Igor's given me a couple buffs of some sort -- I forget the bonuses -- for doing compendium work.

That was my guess for the cleaner as well.

When I finished the game, I had 159 hours. Likely far on the high end. I definitely spent a lot of time fusing persona, but I also grinded a fair bit mostly in Mementos at opportune times, and took my time, regularly going all around the area in the daytime listening to everyone and stuff.

I started doing this during my NG+ playthrough, mostly only in Shujin though. Crazy how much effort was put into an area you're not expected to spend much time in. From the newspaper club member that warms up to you as the game progresses to that one dude with a creepy stalker, and there's even actually some guy claiming to be a phantom thief at school. Shit, I only just learned two palaces in that you can draw on the blackboard for some flavor text.

Okay but seriously though, why doesn't anyone acknowledge the cat that pops out of MC's bag whenever he's interacting with someone or something? And then there's that dude who sits right behind MC and could totally see Morgana if he just leans to the side. I was waiting all game for someone to call him out for that. Seeing as no one ever does, I totally headcanon that everyone knows about the cat, they just don't give a shit.

I honestly mostly didn't even find Morgana annoying, but he definitely could learn a thing or two from the saying "don't dish out what you can't take"

Him and Ryuji both have baggage and are insecure yet keep sniping at each other. It does actually annoy me that we don't get more agency to tell them to stop being dicks to each other though, because if I were in Joker's position I'd definitely not allow those two babies to keep inciting each other since I know neither can really take it.

I use Ryuji a lot, but forgot to buy him an SP Adhesive 3 for the ship dungeon, so he was faltering a bit. Not that he can hit a ton of weaknesses, anyway, though.

And now that I have some time till the last (?) boss, I've been trying to get the achievement for maxing out the stat star. I wish I'd known the burger challenge cheeses it so much, at least in terms of Guts.

So, I dunno if you've ever played Skyrim, but Shido's VA is the same as someone in Skyrim, and he uses the same voice as a somewhat infamous character in Skyrim, Nazeem.

He wanders around Whiterun and so anyone who lives there (which is pretty common to be most players I'd imagine, at least for awhile) is sure to run into him, and his ambient dialogue is just snobby insufferable garbage, like "Do you get to the Cloud District often? Oh, what am I saying? Of course you don't"

His whole character is basically about acting like some important figure when he's not and so because of this, my headcannon is that Shido and Nazeem are the same person, and after Shido's defeat he snaps and slowly goes crazy, eventually moving to a village well out of the way that becomes Whiterun and spends the rest of his days rambling about how important he is here and being dragon shouted into the side of homes.

Quick question regarding shido's dungeon.

I cant test it now, but if you fail to complete the dungeon normally, Akechi comes and arrests you. But does the scene play out different if you kill him in the fight, but then dont complete the dungeon at all?

Eh, shouldn't be more immersion breaking than failing the story and having to reload a save surely.

I do wonder though, do people generally not try to do the story dungeon early? I've only played 4 and now 5, and in both I generally tackled the story dungeon close to as soon as possible. So the idea of ever running out of time seems kinda alien to me.

I love the feeling of knocking out a story dungeon and having like 3 weeks of time before the next major story development to just relax and work on stuff.

That's only ever an issue if you intentionally overlevel. When you're just running around Mementos trying to do requests or find Treasure Demons you missed, it's actually quite lovely. If anything, there's no reason not to use Ryuji, considering he:

1) Has an easy to level Confidant with no special conditions needed to max it, 2) learns Swift Strike in the mid-30s, making him a consistently reliable random encounter killer until 5th palace, (hell it's arguably even his best boss skill until God Hand), 3) learns Matarukaja, 4) learns Charge.

Ryuji is a beast, yo. 10/10, never left my active party, would use again.

Any enemy you ambush that's at least 10 levels below you gets insta-killed. You don't get money or exp, but you do get a free persona out of it.

No people love that perk, because they don't care about maximising their usage of time.

Every time I went into a palace and reached a point where I had to leave and progress another day, I would hang around and make the most of my time block spent there, burning through whatever SP I had left without using restorative items.

It really doesn't take much grinding at all to reach a point where the current highest level enemy encounters are mostly if not entirely insta-killed. Not ambushing enemies to avoid it also has the following disadvantages:

- Raises alarm
- Slows winning the encounter
- Makes the encounter more dangerous (enemies being blue-tier in level does not mean they pose no threat, at least on hard)
- Lose the double money bonus you can get from Hifumi's confidant perk
- There's at least one, maybe more, skills that activate when you ambush

There's TONS of value to get out of encounters that are low enough level to be insta-killed as well. The only thing it's not good for is EXP, and actually even that is not true, because of treasure demons (reinforcements).

You get material drops, gold (an encounter being low level doesn't mean ANYTHING for gold drops, some of the highest gold drops from encounters you can get are Big Bang Burger-tier enemy encounters only rivaled by like, 2 encounters at the absolute endgame), a chance for a reinforcement treasure demon to show up, the opportunity to pickpocket enemies (which can net you some of the most valuable and powerful consumable items in the game and powerful skill cards), and the opportunity to hold up-loop enemies using the Sun arcana perks to get mass amounts of money (if you know the right enemies to hold up as some have a much higher yen payout base value), or tons of rare consumable items even in bulk if you get lucky including, again, powerful skill cards (some of which can only be obtained this way). Then there's the perk Futaba gets to occasionally find a "rare item" on a specific enemy you can then get from them in a hold up. Thing is, these items seem to be within a fixed pool that seem to often be independent of what you normally get and seem to be, by far, the best easy source of blank cards.

Now all that said, it's certainly less of a big deal on normal/easy, but on hard, it screws you over a lot and absolutely makes you operate less efficiently.

Even if someone thinks it's purely good and has no downside, which is wrong, but even still, everyone should at least agree it should be optional. Basically every other perk that adds some new ability is. It's dumb this isn't. They realised things like Futaba switching out multiple KO'd members is not something you'd always want to do, or you'd not always want to do a Bullet Hail, but they made this mandatory, even if he's not in the party? That's dumb.

Making use of not having this perk, I never really felt pressed for time, money, resources, I had a lot of rare skill cards ahead of time that made life a lot easier (including High Counter which made one of the hardest tasks in the Strength confidant a breeze), I had no trouble maxing all my social stats pretty early and by the end of the game I maxed EVERY confidant even though I was playing blind, nearly maxed the compendium thanks to all the money I was making playing efficiently and the only confidant I hadn't maxed was Ryuji's, and I absolutely could have, if I hadn't intentionally avoided hitting rank 7 as long as possible. >_>

As an example: Shiki-Ouiji appears in Madarame's palace as an elite enemy encounter. It's not hard to "outlevel it" both in Mementos, and even the palace. This enemy has an extremely high base value for yen given on hold ups, and also regularly gives revival beads as items. It's not remotely difficult to turn a single encounter with one into 50k+ yen or like 7 revival beads. And this is at the second palace.

'course, alternatively for money at least you could confuse a miniboss, however, that is honestly so overpowered it feels like a cheat/exploit (though I certainly see the appeal to save time). Then again, that's just for money though, and...the enemies that works well on are finite, aren't they? So...eh.

Going into Mementos during flu or something, with a Money Reading and ambushing blue encounters after using a treasure trap and frequently getting treasure demon reinforcements, sometimes back to back to back, and each giving like 30k and up money for beating and tons of EXP was really great, and Ryuji's perk is at odds with that.

And there are some material items quite a bit rarer that are worth getting a lot of, like to make an eternal lockpick. Would be more frustrating to get with his perk. Especially since IIRC the first enemy to get Liquid Mercury from is Anubis, who has no weakness and likes to cast insta-deaths.

This reminds me of Sun rank 1, where a nameless NPC tells Yoshida something to the effect of "mind your own business, you old goat!" in the cheesiest fucking voice ever. And then that professional gamer from Tower rank 10. Like really, the named/portrait characters all have mostly good voice acting, and then the one-off no portrait losers are just so bad. Feels like they didn't even try to keep the dubbing quality consistent in this one. I remember Persona 4 having actually decent voice acting for one-offs, what's this game's excuse?
